This is probably the oldest video I’ve watched on KZbin and it’s exactly what I was wanting to learn. You even had a radon ebook back in 2007! Hats off to you and thanks for the video

In the almost decade since I watched this series… I’ve advanced FAR BEYOND my expectations. I’v almost “mastered” the fret board, I’m recording studio tracks, playing in a professional band and I’m now teaching lessons on what you taught me. Horns up to you RLM for being my first “modes” instructor.

When you zoom out and look at EVERYTHING in your signal chain that creates tone, (especially overdriven or distorted tone) from your pick selection to your speakers, body wood of a guitar accounts for maybe 2% in tone. Neck material and the shape and thickness of the neck along with fretboard material, and the way the neck is attached to the body (bolt on, set/glued, neck through) makes a bigger effect than body wood.

You are wrong about using metal is the best for blocking, wood is the best.. that metal is always makes a tang sound

Anyone who has to block their trem either needs to learn how to properly set it up or should just get a gutiar with a hardtail bridge. It's not rocket science , if floting trems didn't work they would have quit making them years ago

Wow, you're making dumbasses mess up their guitar There are plenty of trem stabilizers that you can choose from that won't jack up anything and the best part is that ....... IT'S DONE RIGHT

A small metal dowel can be used in a device that costs maybe $3 to make and install in 10 minutes .... that will not prevent dive bombing, but will let a Strat maintain bridge bottom parallel to the top ('float') . No wood or metal block is needed at all and my device is fully adjustable and removable easily. I cannot see how to attach a photo that shows it here.

If tonewood has an impact on tone it is thanks to one mechanical property : speed of vibration's transmission through wood. The faster the velocity is, the more vibrations you'll get, and also the more you'll get high vibrations (call it brightness). There's no magic into that, just mechanical physic. - It is known that a same variety of wood can have different vibration velocity. - It is known that different varieties of wood can have the same vibration velocity. - It is known that density does not make all about vibration velocity. Grain architecture is very impacting. For instance some very good Douglas fir can have a faster velocity than weak (often figured) Maple, though Douglas density is less dense than Maple. This architecture can be read thanks to tree rings : the closer they are from each other, the faster velocity will be. That's why violin are made with very close tree rings and cellos with more spaced tree rings : violin need to be bright and cellos to be bassy. Plus, the main part of an electric guitar that may impact strings vibrations is the neck. Put a great neck on an average body and you'll get a great sounding instrument, do the opposite and you'll get an average one. Average or fast velocity woods doesn't matter much for the body, but it has a big impact when used for the neck. The whole story is all about finding the required velocity for the neck. You want a bright sounding guitar ? Use a fast velocity wood thanks to close tree rings. You want a warm sounding one ? Use a lower velocity thanks to more spaced tree rings. There you got your "tonewood secret". All the rest is made of lies to make you pay a lot for paranormal bullshit.

Being that you went through the garage, shouldn't there be some type of fire block or collar? I thought also there should be fire walling material. I'm not saying what you did was wrong, I'm more into the learning stages here.

Thanks for making the video buddy. I'm about to install my system but I got 4" pipes as I assume it would be better ,especially using a larger fan? Checking with a radon monitor the garage I found high reads (not sure if the monitor picks up fuel fumes as radon). Reads are higher than the basement which is odd to me. So I thought fitting a pipe from the basement up as you did, then instead of vertical into the roof, another split into the garage slab and then vertical pipe up. Does it sound right? Is this flashing safe after years? don't want leaks.... Thanks
