Exceptions? I live in NM, which has a distinctive wet-dry seasonal climate like in Africa. Right now, it is summer and the height on the North American Monsoon season (we call it the "rainy season" or just "the rains"), which affects the SW USA and Northern Mexico. This phenomenon is referenced in the Pixar movie _A Bug's Life_ (one of the clues that places it in SE New Mexico and _not_ Texas). Unlike your typical idea of a monsoon, it does not constantly rain here in the desert. Instead, there is an inflow of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, drawn in by the rising heat in the interior lands due to summer insolation. This moisture moves inland like a frog (not _fog,_ but a hopping amphibian). The effect is that, almost every day in the summer, the mornings will be completely cloud free until the afternoon when cumulonimbus clouds form over the Chihuahuan Desert and bring intense but short lived/fast moving storms that can overwhelm an arroyo in minutes. The storms will typically die overnight and the next morning it will be clear again, until the sun whips all that moisture that fell back into cumulonimbus clouds to continue their relentless march toward Colorado.

Plot twist: cuttlefish isn't using a sticky appendage to catch stuff. He is actually giving a d slap and then using it to lasso the unconscious prey.

@@raycavazos8927 I didn’t know that so thank you. It happens so fast! Cephalopods are so amazing. I live in Hawaii and did a lot of night free diving for lobsters and octopus. After observing their behaviors in the daytime, the way they could touch down on a reef and instantly hide their suckers, mimic the colors and texture of whatever they landed on then look into my soul with one intelligent eye I would get chicken skin (goose bumps) I could no longer hurt them. I haven’t ever since.

Iridescence is caused by white light (includes all colors) refracting through a thin layer of slime (snakes) or oil or gasoline on water. Depending how far the light has to travel during the two way refraction, the wavelength of the refracted light shifts and creates all the colors of the rainbow depending on the THICKNESS of the slime, oil or gasoline. Rainbows are caused by sunlight refracting through large water drops in the air. The same physics principles apply.
