Is there a trick to getting the bolt back in? I can't reinsert it - doesn't seem to be lining up

I wouldn't buy a Chinese UTV ever so I wouldn't know how much they suck which the whole drain plug assembly obviously does ! Hindsight being 20/20 IF you had changed the oil after a common " break-in" period it would've exposed that flaw with time to spare on the warranty. Doh ! Sorry for your angst.

I just inherited a Mossy 146B from my older brother who was the original owner. He bought it in the early 1950s and it is in mint condition. I was just cleaning it after shooting in at a friend's ranch. I had some difficulty getting the bolt out, but when I held the trigger it slid right out. However, I can't get it back in. The firing pin is in the "fired" position. I noticed that you twisted the bolt while it was out of the rifle, but I can't seem to do that. I searched online and I am not the only one who has had trouble inserting the bolt. If you made a video on removing and re-inserting the bolt it would be a great public service.

I'm responding to my own question. I was inspired by your video and tried it one more time. I inserted the bolt as far as it would go and lifted the handle. It rotated the bolt to be properly aligned and went in.

Just weld the aluminum pieces back in, then use a thread insert after drilling out the bolt hole. Do a search for stripped bolt hole repair. Fast, cheap and easy to do. You might need to remove the aluminum part to have it welded. Car builders have been doing this for many years. You can find thread inserts at your local auto parts store. Ignore the insults as you can't go back. No need to buy a new motor either. Sigh...

I got smoked on one too. Can't tell everyone how piss poor the quality is. My entire motor block shattered at front drive shaft. Look at Kawasaki mule for comparable price you can at least find someone to work on it and they do stock replacement parts

I'm small engine repair and yes Coleman has not done very well in the warranty dept, so to speak. I have a one in my shop that has the exhaust bolt broke off in the head which needs a new head or spend hours drilling it out. I found out that Coleman is mainly giving customers there money back even with a month of warranty left. Sorry to hear about all the problems people are having good luck!

Clean the hole and the bolt with brake cleaner spray. JB weld the bolt in. Buy a battery powered oil suction pump use it through the dipstick hole for future oil changes. Problem solved.

Revied this video again today for a refresh as I'm working on a Mossy 42 bolt which I think is very similar to the 146 bolt. Thx again for your insight on this procedure sir. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!🎄

Thanks for the heads-up! Getting the Atlas ready to tow a pontoon boat, and for the life of me could not figure out what the cover on the quick connect was there for. I literarily just ordered the part you described from Amazon, 14.09, prime shipping. I'll have it by May 31st. Again, thanks for the advice!!

What am I missing? Why hasn't anyone suggested... why wouldn't asking for a new oil pan not be the solution? Why does he need a new engine? Why all these other solutions about welding and heli coils? Shouldn't a new pan and bolt be the simple solution?

So you went 13 months before your first oil change? You should have changed the break in oil months ago and it would have been under warranty.

Thanks for the video, I've been seriously looking at the Hisun Sector 750 EPS Model. My friend bought one just yesterday and we both have been fairly impressed with it so far. He's got 60 miles on it now after two days and is going to change out the break-in oil with a new filter and oil this week. It's of course under warranty right now and I certainly hope he doesn't experience the same thing!

Be glad they canceled your vet visit. Banfield killed my dog by giving her meds that caused a twisted colon. As Chelsea went downhill, and we took her back to determine what was going on, they determined it was the meds. They ended up having to put her to sleep as the damage caused by the constricted colon was too severe. They offered to put her to sleep... of course, not at their expense. They refused to allow me to be present at her execution. I made a scene in the store, and they allowed me to be present at her passing. Needless to say, I have never gone back into a Banfield or PetSmart since and am quick to discourage others from doing so as well.

Very simple everyone change oil 3 months after buying. Or as soon as you get home. With it. If it breaks turn around go right back to the store.

Jesus man up already and quit whining. That is such a simple fix for anyone with a small amount of common sense. They don't owe you a new engine because of a few messed up drain plug threads! You SHOULD have changed the oil way sooner than you did. Had you done that, you would have caught the issue while it was under warranty. Common sense.

Well said description of experience encountered in purchase of a Coleman product. The cut off of the warranty based on the type of failure that occurred is just Mickey Mouse. It should have been repaired without further question. Too bad the owner, who appeared to be an honest guy with a legitimate complaint couldn't just put the whole thing in a trash bag and ship it back to China. Based on what I read here, I won't buy any Coleman products in the future in spite of being someone who is active in outside activities such as off road vehicles. Coleman made a poor decision here and it will likely cost them a lot more than this repair might have.
