I just saw your videos on the utv and was thinking that you could have saved yourself some headache's if you would have done your due diligence and some maintenance. I have owned several vehicles in my years and have never had any issues when I followed the manufacturer maintenance schedule. Time to take some responsibility for your lack of action and not try to shift blame onto someone else.

Good luck getting any manufacture to stand behind a product you didn’t do a break in oil change on for over a year and almost 200 miles! If you would have done the oil change when you should have you would have discovered this problem well within its warranty period.

Very simple everyone change oil 3 months after buying. Or as soon as you get home. With it. If it breaks turn around go right back to the store.

For one you should have done an oil change before warranty was up. That would be the wise thing to do. You can’t blame them for not replacing it. A one year warranty is a 1 year warranty. Do your part and change oil regularly and inspect . Who is to say you didn’t try to run that in with an impact? And is far as Chinese goes what did you think you were getting for the price. I have a $ 30 000 Polaris UTV and it has Chinese bearings in it .

I’m kinda late for replying now, but anyway.....I’m a auto tech that has been stuck with similar situations over the years. You can purchase an automotive repair drain bolt that has a smaller bolt in it or even a little valve in it. You can opoxy/JB Weld the bolt in permantly and drain the oil though the smaller bolt or valve.

In my research, I also learned that Coleman 500 Outfitter is a rebranded Hisum UTV from China. John Deere uses a Chinese Chery (a play on Chevy?) engine in their Gators. The Chery engine is an automobile engine used in many cars in South America, Asia and probably Europe. With that being said, you might think you''re buying a better quality American or Japanese branded product but it may have cheaper quality Chinese components.

You could do as Darrell said in his comment and get an expanding drain plug or find out the exact side of the drain plug along with the thread size and buy a helicoil kit for it. You would be required to take the oil pan off and drill the hole out with the included drill bit that normally comes in the helicoil kit. Then use the tap that comes with the kit. Once tapped, carefully screw in the helicoil to where it's just below flush so the new oil plug gasket will seal against the pan. Be sure to clean any debris off before reinstalling it to the engine. You dont want that floating around in the oil pan. I do many helicoils where I work and they are typically stronger then the cast iron I use them on. So in your case, being aluminum, it will be a lot stronger. If your not comfortable trying the helicoil kit yourself, take the oil pan to a local mechanic in your area and they would probably do it for a small fee. Hope this helps. Hope your able to get the UTV up and running again.

See so much of this. These retailers sell these machines. They don't do a proper pdi. Most importantly they don't change the oil. The oil that comes in Chinese equipment is only there to prevent rust during shipping and storage. I have fought with people on here over this fact. My last purchase was a 150cc scooter and I sent the oil in it to Blackstone labs. There were no additives in it at all. Not something you want to run. Looking at your plug this is definitely a defect from the factory and should have been caught when the oil was first changed unfortunately it was just too late. People need to realize when they buy Chinese machines they are cheaper for a reason and check them out. Sorry this happened to you.

Hisun is made in China, but it's assembled in Texas. Before I bought one I researched Polaris Ranger UTVs and where they're made. Well it turns out that Polaris uses roughly 80% of foreign parts in their machines and ALL Polaris ATV and UTVs are assembled in Mexico. They can stamp it with the "Made in USA" sticker because corporate offices are in America. My conclusion is: It really doesn't matter what you buy now days because it's all Chinese parts even if it's assembled here.

Those on here saying the "big brand" machines can be bought for the same or less are full of it - maybe for an older used one, but with the accessories it's more like double the dollars! I'm not thrilled with Coleman's deceptive trade practices - the manual and online specs say the UTV500 comes with a 2 inch receiver (that works with standard 2 inch hitch products), but it doesn't. They have a botched solution with 1.25 inch tube and a retainer pin of 1/2 inch instead of 5/8 inch.

Just weld the aluminum pieces back in, then use a thread insert after drilling out the bolt hole. Do a search for stripped bolt hole repair. Fast, cheap and easy to do. You might need to remove the aluminum part to have it welded. Car builders have been doing this for many years. You can find thread inserts at your local auto parts store. Ignore the insults as you can't go back. No need to buy a new motor either. Sigh...

There's a sticker on the firewall that will tell you Hisun - made in China. The Chinese manufacturers are a bit odd... You can find shoes that are VERY well made - good uppers, soles, etc... great fit, good price... wear them for a month and the thread is so cheap it will break and your shoes fall apart... Over and over I've seen it for years. I bought a starter recently... I was impressed by the quality!!! It looked like it would go on a show car!... I attempted to put it on and couldn't get the top mount bolt to start... several times trying got me nowhere... so I took it back out and in the shop I was able to see that the top mount flange hole was drilled at a slight upward angle... if I COULD have gotten the bolt sarted in the bellhousing, it would have broken the alminum starter casting - NO DOUBT! so by reaming gently with stainless brushes on my drill I was able to open the hole up slightly and mount it. The starter itself seems to work perfectly. SO FAR. Millions of these have been made and I imagine sold thru all the popular parts stores. I wonder how many were broken and the installer blamed???

I have seen worse... on much more expensive machines. I bet whoever assembled it out of the box did that. It very much looks like it was waaay over torqued like you mentioned. I refuse to let others touch my machines. I would fix it and move forward. I once had a high-quality Japanese motorcycle with a made in Japan engine. The engine oil drain bolt did essentially the same thing (Almost all threads ripped out)... but in a parking lot while on a 5k mile road trip!!! The case was still solid though. I took the battery out and fuel tank off... layed the bike on it's side... and drilled/tapped the hole to a larger size and installed Helicoil threads. They distribute the bolt torque out on the threads for the bolt so that won't happen again. Stood the bike back up and poured 10 gallons of oil through it since the metal shavings were inside the case now. Put it back together and didn't have a problem ever since. I have a VERY cheap mower with a Chinese made engine in it that is about 12yrs old, abused, and still running strong. My more expensive commercial mower engine is also a Chinese engine. Heck, I even know of expensive BMW engines that are made in China these days. I do wish the USA were as lean and mean as it used to be for making things for the world. Sadly, the government has grown too much and has sucked the life out of our nation. Some are still hanging on by a thread but that may not last long. No worries though. Just like in China, I am sure the government will be there to "Save" them when they fall.

I inspect mine after each day run... Blow them out or replace them if they're beyond cleaning. Oil and Filters are cheaper than replacing main components. Keep the radiator washed clean. Grease the grease points faithfully after harsh trails and weekly if just regular trails. GREASE; OIL; FILTERS; WATER.... That's your part!! MAINTENANCE

Well said description of experience encountered in purchase of a Coleman product. The cut off of the warranty based on the type of failure that occurred is just Mickey Mouse. It should have been repaired without further question. Too bad the owner, who appeared to be an honest guy with a legitimate complaint couldn't just put the whole thing in a trash bag and ship it back to China. Based on what I read here, I won't buy any Coleman products in the future in spite of being someone who is active in outside activities such as off road vehicles. Coleman made a poor decision here and it will likely cost them a lot more than this repair might have.

They keep saying it'll come in 1 week (which never happened) they lied about their warehouse being low on parts, they make covid excuses of to why their horrible service is slow to keep up on crap, etc, etc. No Update on to when It'll be shipped (They FINALLY shipped it a month later december 26th) No Update On when will it arrive (they FINALLY deliver to my house december 30th, bs and bs) No Update if the package is lost or not, etc, etc they basically just ghosted and swept me under the rug like i wasn't important to them, They took my money and had me waiting like a timer ticking until it wants to stop ticking. I'm not going with this company no more

Joshua, if you look at these units, they are entirely manufactured and assembled in China. It isn’t a secret. They ship these preassembled and sell them to three differently branded companies in the USA. Coleman is one of the brands.

I cannot blame Coleman for shitty and sloppy mechanic workmanship. That oil plug was cross threaded and not the blame of the manufacturer imo. I’m a retired mechanic who worked at the trade for 38 years and can see nothing here the blame of the oem of this UTV. This video doesn’t deter me from buying this product as I believe it is unfair to blame the company for poor workmanship by the maintenance person. That said, I’m buying one shortly and will certainly give a fair report on this vehicle after using it over time.

Soooo, it's normal for the engine to crack at the drain plug when removing the drain plug at less than 50 hours on the machine? LMAO and you're going to buy one,,,, LMAO again,,, wow CHINESE JUNK ! ! ! You get what you pay for ! ! !
@angusgillingham2323

@@LPCycles I thought my comment over after seeing your response here and in hindsight I shouldn’t really blame the guy for being upset. I wasn’t present to see the drain plug installed or for that matter any of the maintenance done on this vehicle, so I shouldn’t blame the maintenance because it could very well be the factory personnel that messed up these threads. I don’t like the fact that there are two sets of threads that must be matched up with screwing in the drain plug as that alone is poor engineering imo. Yeah, I think I’ll stand with the owner here as he should have been better compensated for this set of defects. I’m not too proud to admit a bad decision as I believe I made here.

What am I missing? Why hasn't anyone suggested... why wouldn't asking for a new oil pan not be the solution? Why does he need a new engine? Why all these other solutions about welding and heli coils? Shouldn't a new pan and bolt be the simple solution?

You are lucky it still ran after running it nearly 50 hours on the break-in oil you voided any warranty period if you bought any brand they want take the treatment you have done to this machine and if you read your owners manual like you said it tells you the first 3 tanks of fuel or 25 hours change the oil and filters I think you are trying to shame the company into fixing your mistakes . I have a 700 Hisun and love it but you are the problem and no your no mechanic or handy in anyway ! SMH AND ITS OBVEOUSE YOU HAVE RAN OVER SOMETHING AND BROKE THE MANIFOLD AND THE OIL PLUG ! MAYBE JR HAS BEEN TAKING IT FOR SOME LATE NIGHT ADVENTURES HUH LOL
