1:22 I've been trying to work this part out and play it properly since the day these videos were posted AND I FINALLY NAILED IT! Fkng hell, that was maddening. I was starting to think it was only possible to play open-handed or something. Turns out its difficulty is simply because drumming is hard as hell. After air drumming for almost 30 years I finally got a kit of my own a few weeks before these videos went up. I've been having so much fun pushing myself to not only play better, but to listen much more attentively and be more patient. (Pffsh, good fkn luck. I had ADHD before there even was ADHD. I'm Patient Zero for the Distracted Generation.) But good-god-DAMN, my brain turned to mush every time I sat down to practice this sucker.

Between the hat work, ghost notes, and the kick magic, this is absolutely mesmerizing.

Gotta be one of the most unconventional drummers out there. Love his drumming and the way he writes for songs.

While I don't necessarily groove with the current sound of Coheed, I was completely ignorant not only to the drum set up, but more importantly the intensity you bring. I'm no musician, though as an observer you sir... It's rare to see a drummer as enveloped in the music vs waiting for the next part, if that makes sense. Keep on good sir.

Everyone says Josh is underrated. Josh is very underrated for being the greatest rock drummer in history.

The snare ghost notes in the chorus are so crispy it's insane. This album has one of the best drum books of any modern rock record. Technical when it has to be, balls-to-the-wall heavy when it has to be, but never too much. Right in the pocket.

A band I avoided for absolutely no reason… A band I thought was carried by these vocals and guitar work…sorry Josh. You make me want to pick up the sticks… I guess I know what I want for my birthday. I hope I can play with half the joy that radiates out of you. Play on young man

What a good fucking riff. Sounds like a Claudio riff. But obviously it has your stamp. <3

The open handed drumming style is so incredible to watch. Let’s not forget his unbelievable creativity. Seriously I watched a lot of Chris penne while he was with the band….. but OMG Josh is next level!

Josh, you are a legend, man! My 1st son was born right after Atlas was released, and I used to sing this song to him. My other son was born close to Rise Naianasha and I can't help but to relate these 2 masterpieces with my kids. Love, LOVE your work, and Coheed's from all my heart!

The way he writes his parts to blend so perfectly with the guitars and vocals is amazing. It's like he plays his own melody somehow. He really affects the mood of the song, and it's more than just rhythm. I do not believe there is any other drummer that can play like Josh Eppard. He's the GOAT in my opinion.

I love how creative the drumming is in this song and how it dynamically goes with the flow and not just a rigid rhythm in the background. This is my favorite song off the album and I was fortunate to see it live in Brooklyn.

Incredible drumming on what is a very simple looking kit. I'm used to seeing massive drumkits used by the likes of Neil Peart and similar prog drummers, and to think such amazing C&C stuff comes out from the smaller kits is really surprising.
