RE: Angled bass drum. I've been doing that since watching Billy Ward's amazing 'Big Time' DVD many years ago. He covers this in detail. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend checking it out. I think you'd find his discussion on bass drum/toms/etc setup quite interesting and relevant.

@@GlennWilsonDrums oke, just has a different hoop than my brooklyn snare
@GlennWilsonDrums21 күн бұрын
@@Beatwilder Hey Sorry man, I had a brain fart. This is a USA Black Copper Snare, the rest of the kit is the Brooklyn, my apologies. You are absolutely correct too, die cast hoop which came with the drum 👍
@Beatwilder21 күн бұрын
Haha no problem, so now the question is, keith carlock snare or black copper?
@GlennWilsonDrums21 күн бұрын
@@Beatwilder ohhh ok. Well… I need both. I usually keep the copper tuned low and muted for country/pop sessions (not cranked up like this video). Keith is just all about the crack for me and it is a surprisingly dark drum which I love. If I had to pick one it would be Keith. Hope that helps 👍

Oh I’m glad you like it! 🙏 Sure thing. Main hats are 13” Sound Formulas. X-hats are 14” 2002 sound edge. Splashes are 10” 602 ME, 8” Sound Formula. Crash on hihat side is 18” traditional, crash by the floor Tom is 18” masters dark crash. Ride is 20” traditional medium. China is 18 sound creation (I think, I’ll have to check) 👍

Hey Glenn! Loving your videos and playing, great stuff! I too am a Gretsch fan and have a COB snare, I love it, but find I need to tame the ring with gaff tape/moon gels etc. I’ve tried tuning it out, and nothing seems to help. I notice in this video, your snare is wide open and sounds great. What heads are you using? And is your snare set up with the 42 strand wires etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
@GlennWilsonDrumsАй бұрын
Hey Matt! Yeah I have the 42’s still on there and my go to head is a UV1. It’s ringing for days but I can kind of control it from where I hit the drum. Sometimes I put a small piece of gaf if it’s too much for the song, or just use another snare. Let me know how you go 👍
