Fabulous Karen - the faded background gives real depth to the painting - love it 😻. I have a glass desk so I could tape it straight onto that - beyond reckless 😂.

You pronounce "gouache" correctly, like a European. I was watching some American artists and they pronounce it like "gooch" or smth 😅

When you sprinkle salt onto the surface of a wet watercolor it will pull in and absorb the water it touches. The effect is that little starbursts are created where colour has been lifted from the areas where a grain of salt rests and it leaves a lovely texture.

Do I rub the salt off after it's dried?

No you don’t rub the salt off. I recommend laying down some mid tone washes, wait for your paper to be damp, and sprinkle the salt. Give it time to work. Hopefully you will get some nice results. 😊🎨
