have you ever tried to shoot hollow point conical bullets?
@matthewsherman8342Ай бұрын
I have been reloading for about 6 years. A friend of a friend asked me to load for his Swiss SR 1889 rifle. He told me it was a 7.5x53.5. Based on your video I would just trim the length to 53.5, correct? I always end up taking on tasks like this for some reason 🤣 I haven't been home to check my manual yet. I'm sure that will be even more helpful

Did you get it rifled?

What woods did the French use for stocks? I’m redoing a Gras, and wood is super dark even after sanding down. Thanks 😅

Hot damn that gun is surprisingly accurate for being a genuine colt
@doranmaxwell17552 ай бұрын
Actual Colt... a couple of things to note... The Colts had brass grip frames but they were silver plated as on your gun... also the bore is not that important (condition wise) but the chambers are... The Colts did not have undersize chambers like the repro's do 25 grains is a tad high but... good to go. I also use #10 on stock nipples

The brass frame was prolly replaced.

Why not use historical conicals?
@murphysmuskets3 ай бұрын
Historic conicals are long and pointed, taking up a lot of chamber volume. The power difference due to the increased powder charge is relatively small but noticeable. Also when I made this video Eras bullet molds weren’t available; so it was either the Lyman bullet, Kiado, or round ball. At the time the Kiado was the best do-all option.

I’ve been eyeing a Weatherby vanguard sporter in 30.06 with a 24 inch barrel. I reload so I will probably push 165 grain Nosler partition through it!

Don't put the cases INTO the flame like that! The hottest part of the flame is at the very point of the flame. Any welder or plumber can tell you that.

My gun is one of the older ones with a single stage trigger and it'll poke a single jagged hole at 100 yards and I ain't wasting good ammo for no barrel break in. I do reload my own precision ammo for each individual rifle that I have, and it's very rewarding.

I was always taught that after fully loading a cap&ball pistol, to smear a bit of lard over the front of the cylinders, not for lubrication, but to help avoid 1 or more neighboring cylinders from untimely ignition???

I also have mine in 7.5x55 rechambered and new barrel all tested I saw Partizan cases with boxer primers in packs of 100 I'm thinking of making 180 or 230gr lead warheads with the Lee mold maybe with gas checks I really like the shape of the warheads you have, they look like lipsticks once finished, really very beautiful bullets some old LeeEnfields (MarkIII?) shoot .303british in black powder with success (with us, black powder is becoming rare and very expensive)
