Thanks for your videos on this! For anyone taking theirs apart be careful with those 6 screws on the housing. I discovered blue loctite on them after 2 of the 6 heads easily snapped off. Cheap screws or perhaps overtightened. The screws appear to be #10-32 x 3/4” . Now I just have to find a way to get the broken bolt out without damaging anything else. 🤦🏻

I enjoy the Fiskars telescoping poles with the internal band and pull handle because I can tilt the head to do cuts closer to buds. About 120$ cdn.

Sometimes, film footages like these are hard to find, for I have the same brand as this. But I don't know if it's the same year model, knowing I bought it brand new in 2023. Also, there's a nipple grease for each one; and without opening the case, there's a tube I can use to lubricate the product, I can not seem to find them. Also, how many hours of use is there, before it needs servicing for I never used it before. I want to know what I'm doing for I could probably void the warranty on it. Do you have a film footage of one like the one I'm after, or do you know someone that does? Thank you buddy!

Hey there. I don't think they've changed this trimmer attachment, (however hopefully they do soon as it appears they have new commercial gearboxes on their new 2024 commercial trimmers coming soon). So there are three large black hex bolts on the trimmer head. The top one is a port to grease the part that articulates. The one below that is grease for the top of the gearbox. The one on the side is another additional port for the gearbox. I now use a small syringe. I suck up some trimmer grease out of a tube (I use the Stihl branded tube), and then inject the grease into the hole. I've only had major problems on losing grease from using trimmers in the rain. I pretty much only use this trimmer in the dry weather now, I use my gas ones in rain. I might put some grease in it every two months, where it might get 75 hours on it in a month. If you put too much grease in, it just spits it out the front. If you're a homeowner and only going to put 20 or so hours on it in a year, I wouldn't worry much about the grease. I'd make sure to lubricate the blades. Most landscapers use a product called Fluid Film to coat the blades as it's non toxic to plants.

Thanks for the video! I’ve been trimming my hedges a few hours after a good downpour and I noticed clear slimy stuff coming out of the gearbox so I searched the internet to see if it happened to others! Since Isaac-qz7hn added grease and it came out from where the blades are I figure water might have entered the gearbox, liquifying the grease that was in the gearbox. I have tall hedges and the tool has been used vertically quite a bit making it easier for water to enter the gearbox. I guess I’ll open it up and see. Thanks again!

I believe that's what happened to mine. Water inevitably gets in and helps the grease get out. I've opened up the gearbox and wiped out as much contaminated grease as possible when I feel it's contaminated. I don't use this trimmer much in the rain anymore, I use my more robust gas trimmers with commercial grade gearboxes. Looking forward to the new commercial EGO trimmers coming out in 2024!

Good review. I have a Corona pole pruner and I hate it. I've been looking for a commercial pruner and I think these will do the trick. Do you use it as a professional?
@charleskarpiuk7330
@charleskarpiuk7330 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes I use it professionally. I started with a proper pole pruner with rope and pulley - they have their place and are excellent when used for what they're designed for. But pruning in any dense shrubs or trees, the pulley and rope always get tangled. This long reach pruner is amazing at pruning dense shrubs and trees, with branches up to 1/2" or 3/4" thick (depends on how hard you can squeeze, and I often hurt my hands trying to prune branches that are too thick). Like I said in the video I should have just bought the telescopic one right off the bat. All in all this is one of my favourite and most used tools when I am working with small trees - like Japanese Maple for example. I just picked up a 6' Long Reach Lopper (Made in Japan, but not by ARS, although ARS makes a couple) which has been a game changer. It can do around 1.5" branches, and since it's a lopper action you don't hurt your hands. And no rope and pulley to get tangled. I should do a review of it at some point. If you're doing small branches get the pruner, but if you need to do big branches, definitely look into the Long Reach Lopper! Thanks for your comment!
@DaEternalNoob
@DaEternalNoob Жыл бұрын
@@charleskarpiuk7330 I'll look into the loppers too. I'd love to see a review if ya get a chance. I do a lot of fruit trees this time of year and was about to cut my pole pruner into pieces yesterday! I'll definitely be buying some new gear this year.
@charleskarpiuk7330
@charleskarpiuk7330 Жыл бұрын
@@DaEternalNoob I don't do fruit trees as I don't think any of my residential clients have any. But when pruning aren't you pruning smaller branches, rather than taking out big branches? Usually whenever I whip out the long reach loppers it's for trees that are overgrown and need their size to be reduced.
@DaEternalNoob
@DaEternalNoob Жыл бұрын
@@charleskarpiuk7330 For a tree that has been maintained properly most cuts are under 1/2". I advertise fruit tree pruning for the winter work (Stone fruits are early spring though) and tend to get A LOT of customers that haven't maintained their trees well, if at all. I often have to do pretty extensive renovations. Regardless. I love tools and am always looking to increase the arsenal! And anytime I can stay off a ladder is good.

Great idea getting a tip protector! Not sure why they don’t come with one, I think I’ll get one. I use a 2 stroke mixing syringe and fill it with grease to add grease to my trimmer attachment seems to work well. Maybe I add too much because the grease seems to work it’s way out up the blades but surely extra lubrication wouldn’t hurt.
@charleskarpiuk7330
@charleskarpiuk7330 11 ай бұрын
Hey, yes I now use a syringe to inject grease into the grease port. If you overfill grease, it just spits it out the front! The same happens on my other three commercial trimmers if I add too much grease.

That’s not the reason they did it, because the Mk6 GLI (which was largely congruent to the GTI) still had IRS. The EU Jettas also received IRS. The reason the US non-GLI Jettas had a torsion beam was entirely to cut costs and shift it downmarket.
