Answer No! Reason: If you're anything like Gamerchamp3000 you unbind buttons for these types of challenge runs and start from a fresh save file, you need to beat the game as Peppino to unlock the Noise, meaning the Noise is only playable if you've beaten the game once without mach running. Since you need the mach run for breaking most metal blocks, wall running and mach jumping, you can see why this isn't viable.

i believe you can reach mach 3 with peppino if you repeatedly buffer jump while in mach 2, gaining small amounts of speed over time.

considering you managed to get past chapter 2, you're definitely handling this better than most. this game was before in-game tutorials became staple inclusions (as opposed to optional), so without a manual, it's no surprise you had trouble. a few tips for next time you give the game a shot (and if you got questions, feel free to ask): -don't beat yourself up too much over Story mode, it's infamous for why this game has a reputation for being tough, especially if you're taking on the higher difficulties for exclusive unlocks. - if you're grinding tickets, definitely shoot for Grand Prix mode, the AI is much more fair than the story mode, so it's a great way to build up experience (plus, winning on the highest difficulty gets a short video featuring your character, which are often funny. Falcon, for instance, rips his pants saving Mrs. Arrow's baby and tries to hide it). - for REALLY tight turns like that hairpin on Aeropolis Multiplex, hit both L and R briefly while turning, then let go of the side you're not going in. this causes your ship to lose grip on the track (like you would on light blue ice panels) and turn much harder than you normally would. - the two attacks have different uses, and you'll have a good chance to practice in Chapter 4. the Spin (Z) is best used defensively or when stuck in a crowd. the Side Attack (X + Left/Right) is more precise and shoots you to the side a bit (as you know firsthand), but it can typically one-shot any racer in Grand Prix mode. practice with the X attack a bit if you can, because taking out 5 opponents in one race grants an extra continue in Grand Prix mode.
