Sounds great even if you can only sing one note, I can only imagine how good it would sound if the korg ms 20 mini was polyphonic.

This is one of the biggest reasons why companies like Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs and Acoustic Sounds exist. They exist to give us the most dynamic reissues, especially on SACD, DVD-Audio, and Blu-Ray High Fidelity Pure Audio

I have the same machine. I took it apart last month because the faders were making noise and shorting out. I used canned air to clean it out, but, now the noise is gone, but, my tapes won't play at the correct speed. 4.8 is super slow and 9.5 is super fast. I can't figure out what happened. Any ideas?

I'm not sure since I'm clearly no specialist, but I think you can safely try adjusting the VR701 and VR702 trim pots on the board. If you have downloaded the original MT120 service manual, their location is identified on page 25.

Be careful, it's possible that vinyl releases are sourced from CD masters which can fool people into thinking that it's way dynamic than digital.

There are indeed examples of vinyl masters being overly compressed. I tend to think that most masters are still more conservative, but I might do a follow-up video analyzing, say, 10 vinyl records at random.

Any updates? It’s strange that a problem would spontaneously develop on just 2 of the four tracks. This might be similar in theory to my old Walkman playing at varying speeds all on its own. To fix this, I sprayed some contact cleaner down into the trim pot responsible for play speed and worked it in by turning the pot up and down a few times. Maybe try that on all trim pots you find! Definitely looking forward to more content with your Yamaha. I’ve found your videos helpful in learning about my new MT100ii and fun ways to use it.

Unfortunately still in trouble... I've tried opening it up again and play around with the trim pots but the levels are still off. When I first used the MT120 again in more than 20 years the levels seemed ok, but it very quickly went downhill. I've been busing recording a new album for LP release, but I'll resume making videos with the MT120 soon, possibly mixing things up with the TE KO II, like using the MT120 in a more experimental way and sampling the tapes to mangle it more on the KO II.

Hi, I think I've bought it 90€ in store at the time, but you should check out the lacedrecords website, it's just been reissued, and in my opinion well worth buying for the Sekiro fan.

I probably am unique in agreeing with you. I was 14-15 when i got deel into classic rock. After hearing The Wall, DSOTM, i got The Final Cut. I was going thru a deep, dark period and this album was the only thing i listened to, over and over. I know the lyrics backwards in my sleep.

I hear you. In a way DSOTM is a bit emotionally cold, and The Wall somewhat bombastic, but The Final Cut is direct and intense in an uncompromising way.

@luisfernando4725 I haven't had much luck cleaning the heads though. I'm beginning to think there's also some contact failure on the Rec select switches. Sometimes the recording playing itself doesn't work and I've got to wiggle the switch a bit. At any rate, I'll probably open it up again soon and try to deep clean again!

Def clean the heads with alcohol thoroughly. I had this issue with my tascam 424 on track 3. Playback after recording was always barely heard. But after a deep clean of the heads it fixed the issue.

This speech recording wins the loudness war ar -11 dB. They can put a flat sausage on vinyl without making a new master, and the waveform will get some fluctuations in the peak level because of non-flat frequency response of the whole system. It's not like the vinyl recorder "gets tired" of holding the same average level.

I think Animals is the last Pink Floyd Album because Dogs and Sheep were still collaborative efforts and you can clearly still hear Ricks style and influence there, even a slightest bit in Pigs. If he was there on The Wall, you wouldn’t know because of the orchestra stuff. Other than that I completely agree with this summary. I can only appreciate The Final Cut as a Waters solo album. As a Pink Floyd album I can’t get past Roger using the Pink Floyd brand to launch his solo career and it sounds nothing like the Pink Floyd I grew up with.

Amen to that. Waters' latest move with DSOM is pretty wild when it comes to stake his claim on the brand.

Well, I think it's often a trade-off with him, he could be pretty lax with his original melodies and get a bit bombastic, but what a performer! I'll probably do a follow-up about specific melodic hooks he only performed on stage (on "Time" for instance).
