Is it necessary to order the encoder wheels? I’m confused by why they offer an option with the encoder wheels when they can be reused from oem controller?

Definitely not necessary, reuse the OEM ones

Nah the only games I'll ever speedrun are sm64 and mk64, the tiny details in those games speak to me. No other games have hit the same feeling yet. It's strange because I wish I could find another, I've tried a few but nothing sticks.

The gameplay in the background enhanced this I think. Instead of mashing the gamepad randomly there's a rhythm we're only vaguely aware of but gives the sounds a proper beat to them instead of randomly pushing constantly
