I’m a newbie; to even knitting & crocheting;. This looked easy and could provide quick satisfaction. While I know it will take me months to learn & finish a scarf, hat, sweater or stuffy. I don’t mind as I need the stress relief. Being autistic formerly known as aspie finally in testing& and having too many health issues; I really need some satisfying stress relief. I’ve decided when I get anxious; this could calm me down quickly. Can you please tell me; What type of caps are you using? Do you glue or crimp? I can’t tell if there is a clasp or claw; is there? Thank you in advance. I look forward to learning this skill and seeing your other video offerings.
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot Жыл бұрын
Hello, yes, this will be a great stress reliever. It certainly has helped me. The finishing caps are called Kumihimo End Caps and are available at Amazon, and fire mountain gems and several other places. Amazon has a great selection at a fair price. After you add the end cap, you can use any clasp you prefer. KZbin has several good videos on how to end your project. Good luck!

What weight of thread
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot Жыл бұрын
The nylon crochet thread package is shown near the end of the video, and I don’t have any of it left so I don’t know the exact weight. You can use any thread, twine, cord, satin cord, etc. You will need to start with three times the finished length for each strand.

Thanks for this. Did you ever tell us how many pieces of string to start with? I don't think so. Looks like eight but I'm going to have to check elsewhere to confirm.

Hi, Thanks for the tutorial I want to get my Granddaughter started in this art form. Please tell me the weight or thickness of the cord, Thank you ver y much
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot2 жыл бұрын
You can use any weight, and any thickness of thread, twine, yarn, even wire. Plan on using three times the length of what you want your finished project to be. For example if you want to end up with 7 inches use 21 inch lengths for each of the 8 strands.

Wow! How did you get the key ring on there do you have a video of that?
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot3 жыл бұрын
To add the key ring, I tied a lark’s head knot on the key ring with four strands doubled. It made eight strands on the top of the loom.

Is there a way to finish the cord for like a necklace without the metal caps on the end
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot3 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/epC2ooOwgKtsr6M I found this video showing how to use a toggle and loop method, and if you Google how to end a Kumihimo braid without endcaps,, you will find a few more. There was a very interesting one using a loop and button that I think you might like too. Good luck!

Hi Rosie. I am new to Kumihimo & I am making a drawstring for a purse. The drawstring is supposed to be 80 inches long when finished. how long should my starting cord be?
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot3 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, three times the length of your finished product will work. So, 240 inches should give you 80 inches for your drawstring.

What's the name is the Lion brand Incredible yarn called, please??
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot3 жыл бұрын
It was purchased a long time ago at Michael’s in the clearance section, and it was just called Lion brand, Incredible yarn. It’s more like a thin ribbon in multi colors, and I remember it came in that color plus an autumn leaves color. I did buy one of each and used them both up, so I don’t have the labels anymore. I’m so sorry.

Can I use yarn instead of cord? please and thank you for a reply
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use yarn, but it will be very stretchy compared to using cord or string or twine. I have also used thin ribbon.

Hola, sería posible me dijeras que cantidad de hilo utilizas y como haces el cierre para no perder la forma, lo atas antes de sacarlo del kumihimo.
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot3 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/l32YY3uHoqhqjqs will explain Kumihimo closure and tie offs. Usually three times your finished length will be enough to make your braid.

Can 550 paracord be used as the material?
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I believe it would work, but you may have to enlarge the hole to allow for the thickness of the eight strands of 550 paracord.

I'm trying to make a key chain. How did you attach yours??? You didn't show that :( Thanks
@RubberstamprosieBlogspot5 жыл бұрын
Hello, at 5:35 you will see the attached key fob. When I began, I folded the strands in half and looped them through the key fob and that went under the loom. I pulled the strands up and over the top of the loom and placed them in position to braid. I think it is called a simple hitch knot. Thank you for a good question.

Ruth Mowry on the key chain, I just tied a knot. Usually, I do add an end cap on bracelets and necklaces. The last 2 minutes of the video show both kinds of finishing.
