I been in Florida for many years. Merritt Island from the air is beautiful. It has potential. But 520 and Courtney are an eyesore. The traffic is crowded. The shopping experience is second rate. The mall is sad. It reminds me of the old Miracle Mall in Titusville. The Miracle Mall was called that because it stood empty for years. Any shopping is either Viera or Orlando. I see many cars on the road all day long . I wonder where they are going ? It really has a minimum of things to do. I wonder what all those people in the condos do ? maybe drink their days away.

Hi Rachel. An hoa would not be for me so I suppose that would limit me to the older houses. Im sure the costs to replace cast iron plumbing with pvc would be prohibitive. Google AI says homes built in Florida through 1975 have cast iron pipes. In your experience, would that year be correct? Inputting 1976 into Zillow should weed out those houses?

@@0viator1 hey there! For the most part, yes. But I have seen 1977 homes with cast iron and I have seen them without. 1978 is the more full proof age however I wouldn’t limit yourself too much because some houses have already had their plumbing changed out to PVC so there might be a really great 1960s home out there for you with Brand new plumbing. Just bought 3 houses in the Waterstone new construction development. They are opening a brand new Publix shopping center by year end so we don't have to drive to Malabar or Bayside anymore. We moved from Ft Lauderdale and we love the area of Palm Bay we moved to. Infrastructure going up all around us and great deals from the builders.

Lake Washington is a substantial alligator habitat best navigated by experienced boaters/airboaters. To drop a kayak or jet ski in this lake or the St. Johns River or any freshwater waterway or wetlands in Florida is beyond dangerous. The brackish intracoastal (Banana/Indian Rivers) are more suited for recreational use, but it’s safe to assume, in Florida, if there’s a body of water, there’s probably a gator.

We've lived in Strom Park for 10 years and love it here. We have the best trail system in Viera, which has a combination of lakes and forest and we can join the Addison Clubhouse but don't have to so aren't automatically assessed the fees. Plus we're right next to the Avenues, Viera Hospital, I95 on-ramp, Brevard Zoo, Elementary School, Target, Costco and the newest Publix in the county.

Strom Park is one of my favorites in Viera! I sold a house recently there and the family adores the neighborhood. You picked a great spot!

Keep in mind that she is including the rather distant and unincorporated Viera/Suntree as being in Melbourne (Avenues, Brevard Zoo) when neither is within the city limits. Viera/Suntree does not consider itself to be in Melbourne.

Good morning! Suntree and Viera have Melbourne addresses even though they are unincorporated and are just North of the city line. For research purposes, it's important for people to know that these areas exist, especially if they are searching listings in Melbourne since Viera and Suntree listings come up under Melbourne. But yes, I typically point out that they are unincorporated areas (lower taxes!). :)

@@livinginbrevard it is true we have a Melbourne zip code and to avoid confusion, we usually put Melbourne on the return address to avoid confusion though they both work fine. As the Viera rep said on a more recent video, the build-out of Viera will be 70,000 residents (may go higher with all the high density apartments going up) so it may actually displace Melbourne as the hub of the county when that happens. We used to live in Sunset Lakes so also love the MI area!

We love Melbourne, moved down here 22 years ago. BTW not sure what you showed when talking about Wickham Park but that certainly wasn't it. Also I think everyone says "crow-tun". Everything else was spot on! :)

The "historic" downtown area is rundown and dirty, streets filled with litter. The city government cancelled Friday Fest for absolutely no reason. US 1 through the city looks like Detroit, West Melbourne doesn't even have a downtown area, and Palm Bay is nothing but miles of endless suburbs.

Thank you for bringing this up. It's definitely an important issue to address. The recent documentary coming out has shed light on the presence of PFAs in the area, and it's something I've been actively informing prospective buyers about. It's crucial to be aware of these concerns when considering a move to Satellite Beach.

If you’re interested in living a relatively safe and mundane existence and sweat bullets for 5/12 months of the year enjoy horrible food and people who can’t drive insanely high auto and home insurance and an endless supply of elderly people some whom have a stick up their bum car blinkers don’t exist here oh yea and if you like flooding after every rain Melbourne Florida is definitely for you . All that being said I’ve been here 6 years and I’m not planning on leaving anytime soon . I love the beach being right across the street from my house and the weather in the fall and winter . Also DeKine Diego’s had the best burritos in the county of Brevard 😎

@@livinginbrevard Dekine is definitely worth a visit they have vegan and non vegan options I prefer the meats my wife doesn’t but the insane burrito 🌯 is massive and can feed two adults the bowls and tacos are scrumptious the dining area is like a tiki 🛖 hut and not fancy at all it’s on the A1A in satellite beach area

We like it here. If a person who lives here doesn’t, Titusville is a place one can afford to leave. meaning, if you’re mortgage is lower because housing prices are lower than South FL/Orlando, save your money and pack your bags for the weekend. you’ll return home to all the things mentioned in the vid, with less traffic and more quiet. I’ve lived in places where to live near a body of water, you’d have to be almost rich (hello to my Los Angeles and Boston pals!).

Hi. What can you say about tap water quality? Brevard County has poor water quality and high levels of hazardous chemicals due to soil and water contamination from Patrick Air Force Base. An abnormally high incidence of cancer was discovered in the area.

I strongly suggest a filtration system for drinking water anywhere in Florida. The high levels (I've been told) are mostly concentrated in Satellite Beach where the cancer cluster was found so I always warn buyers interested in Satellite Beach and let them do their own research. I'm not an expert on it completely but I've been told a good water filtration system should eliminate those PFAs.

I love Titusville I wish I had moved here years ago. Was in Orlando most of my life but it has gotten to crowed and traffic is horrible. I am so comfortable living here very relaxing and quiet town.

The hospital is horrific. My mother and father lived there and would not go to Jess Parrish. We call it just perished. My father passed away there! The schools lack teachers. Please do your homework before you move there.

In this area, they are not as bad as other parts of Florida but we all do live here with the risk of a bad hurricane. But the other gorgeous 8 months out of the year make up for it!
