I used to live in Merritt island as kid high school family in vira Melbourne area and Palm bay . I just purchased a 3/2 in Palm Bay move August 2nd looking forward

The "historic" downtown area is rundown and dirty, streets filled with litter. The city government cancelled Friday Fest for absolutely no reason. US 1 through the city looks like Detroit, West Melbourne doesn't even have a downtown area, and Palm Bay is nothing but miles of endless suburbs.

Here is an update..2024. DO NOT move to Melbourne FL unless you work at Harris, Grumman, Collins, Blue Origin or KSC. Otherwise the pay is sh!ty and the average house is $500k. Anything below that and you are in a trailer home. Most people here work in retail and they work 2 jobs. The police make $21hr, there are no city jobs. The traffic is horrible b/c the city is so old and underdeveloped. The downtown looks like the 1940’s and they classified it as a historic district so you can’t modernize it. If you have money and enjoy the beach you’ll love it. Otherwise you’ve been warned!
