Laerskool Jopie Fourie is vandag ń swart skool.

Smuts was born to Afrikaner parents in the British Cape Colony. He was educated at Victoria College, Stellenbosch before reading law at Christ's College, Cambridge on a scholarship. He was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1894 but returned home the following year. In the leadup to the Second Boer War, Smuts practised law in Pretoria, the capital of the South African Republic. He led the republic's delegation to the Bloemfontein Conference and served as an officer in a commando unit following the outbreak of war in 1899. In 1902, he played a key role in negotiating the Treaty of Vereeniging, which ended the war and resulted in the annexation of the South African Republic and Orange Free State into the British Empire. He subsequently helped negotiate self-government for the Transvaal Colony, becoming a cabinet minister under Louis Botha. Smuts played a leading role in the creation of the Union of South Africa in 1910, helping shape its constitution. He and Botha established the South African Party, with Botha becoming the union's first prime minister and Smuts holding multiple cabinet portfolios. As defence minister he was responsible for the Union Defence Force during the First World War. Smuts personally led troops in the East African campaign in 1916 and the following year joined the Imperial War Cabinet in London. He played a leading role at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919, advocating for the creation of the League of Nations and securing South African control over the former German South-West Africa. In 1919, Smuts replaced Botha as prime minister, holding the office until the South African Party's defeat at the 1924 general election by J. B. M. Hertzog's National Party. He spent several years in academia, during which he coined the term "holism", before eventually re-entering politics as deputy prime minister in a coalition with Hertzog; in 1934 their parties subsequently merged to form the United Party. Smuts returned as prime minister in 1939, leading South Africa into the Second World War at the head of a pro-interventionist faction. He was appointed field marshal in 1941 and in 1945 signed the UN Charter, the only signer of the Treaty of Versailles to do so. His second term in office ended with the victory of his political opponents, the reconstituted National Party at the 1948 general election, with the new government beginning the implementation of apartheid. Smuts was an internationalist who played a key role in establishing and defining the League of Nations, United Nations and Commonwealth of Nations. He supported racial segregation and opposed democratic non-racial rule. At the end of his career, Smuts supported the Fagan Commission's recommendations to relax restrictions on black South Africans living and working in urban areas.

Please read the excellently researched book on Jopie Fourie by prominent historian Albert Blake published earlier this year by Protea Books. The Afrikaners were left in abject poverty at the end of the Anglo-Boer War.Many of them were killed or permanently injured. There farms were burnt and jobs destroyed.Woman and children were interned in concentration camps where many died. They saw no reason why they should support the British against the Germans. The trial of JF overseen by Smuts was unfair and a sham.Smuts also signed his death warrant.JF’s big passion was rugby and he played for Pretoria Rugby Club.

The Afrikaner culture does have a lot of admirable qualities. It was, after all, born out of Western Europe, the most advanced civilisation in the history of man. One fatal flaw, it seems to me, is the attitude of many Afrikaners toward non-Afrikaner peoples. In a word, racism. For many of them, the only thing wrong with South Africa today is that "we are no longer in charge." They have not learned anything. They genuinely believe that having a political system in which the citizens are not equal under the law (with the Afrikaner on top, of course) is the only way. If your ancestors had used their power to promote moderate racial policies instead of racial oppression, they would have created a situation in which the majority of the South African population were able to assimilate the best aspects of Western education and contribute at all levels of society. That way, when the blacks eventually took over, there would be no grinding of the gears, and the country could still continue to prosper. It seems to me that people who claim the Bible as their guidebook should also heed the greatest commandment in the Bible: love your neighbour as yourself. Doing so will help you to make friends instead of enemies.

Firstly, no sensible Afrikaner would consider Fourie as a hero. Parliament voted in favour of participating in WW1. The majority of the voters were Afrikaners. Gen Botha and Smuts, as faithful soldiers, executed the parliamentary decision. Fourie was a serving, commissioned officer who broke his oath of allegiance by his treasonous mutiny against a democratic government. As an officer he rightly was ordered to appear before a court martial. At that time, a firing squad was a standard sentence for treason and mutiny. Furthermore, by breaking his oath, he demonstrated a higher regard for worldly, political preference than for loyalty to God in his oath eg God was less important than his politics! By murdering SAP members while he was under a white flag of truce, demonstrated dishonourable treachery.

Sentencing is part of a trial and an unfair sentencing means that the entire trial is tainted. Fourie was sentenced to death on December 16, 1914 and executed on December 20, 1914. Jopie was not given the opportunity to appeal his conviction and his sentence and the entire process was unfair. Smuts and Botha were traitors who betrayed their own people. They were in a hurry to kill Fourie and the whole sorry thing is another example of Perfidious Albion at work.

Firstly Jopie Fourier wasn't a commander, he was a Commedant Secondly Jopie Fourier wasn't an Afrikaner, he was a boerekryger, in other words a Boer, who fought against the afrikaner, like Jan Smuts, who sold his soul and country to the British crown Thirdly Before 1910 31 Mei was a significant date for the jan van riebeeck, voortrekkers and boere 31 Mei 1910 is a significant date for afrikaners Fourthly At the outbrake of the 1st WW, the deciding factor for the rebel generals wasn't independence, it was a moral decision 12 years prior, their, wives, sisters, mothers, grandmothers, daughters died and were treated worse than animals in concentration camps As well as The europeen country that helped the boers during the, 2nd A-BW were being invaded by the British and commonwealth and the boers didn't want any of that, why Because it is called honor It is called self-respect and dignity Not jumping between "warm beds" like a whore, selling herself and losing self- respect for money Ernst Genl. De la Rey wasn't an Afrikaner hero He was a Boer hero Same goes for Jopie and the other generals Jan Smuts was an afrikaner hero, a beaten lap dog, with his nuts in the crown jewels fault, of the King of England so was Botha To close It says a lot about the character, of the high ranking people involved in this story The "republican" leaders, where moral men, who stood up for their people, who fought for their people, who where humbled by their people, who honored old alliances and who kept their word That's called integrity Jopie saw that Went against the current and stood up for his people, because that was the moral thing to do Smuts and botha betrayed their people and their country. For the table scraps of the british crown. Punt Be sure to not confuse the two Ernst Jy mag dalk in dieselfde wip gevang word Maak seker dat jy nie jou siel verkoop, vir roem en geld en dit dan wil justify, vir die "greater good" van n volk wat jy "dien" Jy neig vir my baie na die Smuts kant vd spektrum Mens kan baie vinnag jou morele kompas verloor, deur jouself blind te staar vir die bogenoemde

Dit lyk my ek gaan die uitsondering in hierdie gesprek wees. As 'n Afrikaner en voormalige SAW offisier was Jopie Fourie se teregstelling absoluut korrek. Kan ons asseblief aanbeweeg.

The sellout , to the level of high treason, was Jannie Smuts with his silk socks, he was a hero to the British. And the murderer of his own people, was Louis Botha who executed the rebels who fought along with him in the Boer war. This plagued his conscious to such an extend that he committed suicide some years later. There is something that needs to be known, and that is that the peace treaty was NOT the end of the war, merely a lull until such a time that the Boers will revenge the scourges earth policy adopted by the British. This means that the Anglo Boer war is still on going now for something like 124 Years to this date.
