Nigerian leaders and policy makers deliberately chose Abuja {Central location} because of its neutrality. The idea behind building a compromise neutral location for the capital city was in order to elimate the question that you have asked about who owns Abuja. Our leaders wanted every Nigerian to feel a sense of belonging in the capital city and that is why a central location was chosen to build the capital.

Abuja is a new city,…. New, deliberate and planned….Lagos is an old port city turned capital. The population of Lagos is like 50x that of Abuja….. there is no basis for comparison.😊

Nigerian roads are really good. You can’t compare with Cameroon. Never. 😂😂 that was a culture shock to me. I didn’t come across potholes during my stay in Lagos. While seated in an Uber, my mind was always prepared for a bumpy road at some point but was never the case. Lagos just has its vibe that is incomparable to most African cities bc only the busy nature of the city is everything. Hustling and bustling 24/7. I had anxiety throughout my stay there.

Sis., what you failed to realize is that all the chaos that Abuja could have had was left in Lagos when building the capital and the resultant move. And don''t forget that Abuja was, in fact, planned as a capital city with a more modern and future look in view. The difficulty of attempting a remodeling of Lagos was one of the reasons for crafting an entirely new capital city that is now being celebrated today. There is also the very mighty presence of a deep pocket tier of government which calls Abuja home - the Federal Government.

No market is cheaper than Lagos when it comes buying and selling. Majority of the goods in Onitsha came thru Lagos. In terms of leather and food, no market can beat Kano in West Africa.

Elomo, cost of living can NEVER be cheaper in Abuja. You can't use entries to judge the cost of living. When you go into the the regular markets, that is where you will know that Abuja is very expensive except for the beef issue. I for one will not live in Abuja unless I have too much money stacked somewhere

As Nigerian, the first time i travelled out as an adult, was to Johannesburg and Pretoria South Africa in 2006 and that was when i realized that Lagos truly has human beings, almost every space in Lagos has human activity😅 I'm currently in Abuja and i love it, i cant remember being stuck in traffic, but i still prefer Lagos on overall scale despite the shortcomings.
