We just went through the process to obtain it. My dad always obtained the pass due to his severe hearing loss caused him to basically develop SPD. After waiting for about 1.5 hours, they denied him. Even after they had a “professional” come on. I personally had never used it for myself, but having been diagnosed with ADHD/OCD/Anxiety myself, I struggle with my anxiety. It’s been a true issue since Covid. I applied for it and was granted the pass. Though they do go very much detail as to why. Even when I asked what I do to avoid crowds on transportation..I said flat out “I walk!” And I was serious! Now I’m an AP holder…AP holders receive 270 days or 8 months of the service. I hate that the system was abused.

So many reasons why this is wrong. I always had DAS since being diagnosed with MS. I also have asthma, diabetes, IBS and a whole slew of other physical and mental disabilities . A recent call to the DAS team denied me not once but twice! The first time they denied I tried to see what I could do without DAS and ended up having to be taken to the ER by ambulance from Animal Kingdom! All my MS symptoms went haywire simultaneously! A cast member suggested I chat with someone again and get someone different. Denied again! This time the cast member told me she can see I was denied before so its a NO! 3 of my treating physicians all wrote to Disney explaining why waiting in line for extended periods of time was dangerous for me. She said they do not accept any documentation from Physicians! I asked her a couple questiins she didnt like and she literally disconnected the chat and hung up on me! I said "Are you a physician?" She said NO. I said "Do you have any medical training at all?" She said NO. I said "So you have zero medical training or knowledge/definition of medical conditions yet you are the one making a decision to approve or deny my DAS based on what?" She hung up in me! LOL! This is heartbreaking cuz after 29 yrs of doing Disney it has to end like this. Disney is my lifeline. So many of the managers, supervisors, chefs, proprietors have known me for so long. They are the only family I have! I say Go to Universal people! They have a similar disability pass as well. But their process actually makes sense. You fill out a short form online telling your conditions and symptoms and accommodations you need and upload documentation from your physician. I did it and was approved next day for a pass not only good for 1 year, but also valid at Six Flags and a bunch of other parks! They emailed me my ID card with my picture on it from their process. Universal even went a step further and emailed me to set up a call to discuss with me exactly what I need from them. What accommodations will make my trip comfortable and enjoyable for me! Amazing! I was in tears because Universal recognized MS as a disability and wanted to do whatever they can to help! I am a passholder at Disney but it is pointless now cuz I cant do much without DAS. But as of a few weeks ago I am now a FL resident living minutes from Disney/Universal/SeaWorld! Now I will be a passholder for Universal and have Universal family as well. 🥹

Walt Disney wouldn’t want this. He’s probably spinning in his grave right now. He would want everyone to be able to enjoy his parks. I have several medical conditions and I love going to Disney world, but if I can’t have a disability pass it’s not worth going. I won’t be able to enjoy it.

This is a good thing, we can’t have nice things in America because they are abused by self entitled people (see service animals) I’m sorry your very self important disability is no longer valid but hey the rest of us are tired of watching some person with “anxiety” cutting in line.

Should I even try and plan a holiday, to Disney, I am in the UK, so we book months maybe a year before hand. I will be a wheelchair user by my self. I normally can only last an hour or 2 in the park, and may need a while to recover after a ride, which may be going back to my room and sleep for hours maybe a day. (we in the UK normally stay for about 2 weeks.) so I have to be quick in and out of the park. So if a fit under the rules when I book but then Disney randomly change the rules again. I always plan in the winter and plan only be in the park on week days (and stay in the hotel, always Disney hotel, so it is easy to get to the hotel) My plan is normal only to go to the USA every few years, the planned trip was in COVID year, and start the plan for next year, do I even try.

Regarding magnet hooks, when they are rated for 50 or 100 lbs, they’re measuring that weight based on the magnet being attached to the ceiling, not the wall. When the magnet is attached to the wall, it can hold much less weight. So if you want to maximize the weight for each magnet hook, you can attach them to the ceiling of your cabin. Or just buy the strongest ones you can find and attach them to the wall instead. I personally use two different sets of magnet hooks (one smaller for lighter items and a heavier one for bulkier things).

I am ambulatory wheelchair user. I can stand and walk very short ddistances but I cant stand or walk for a long time. I have FND(Functional Neurological Disorder), PTSD, anxiety, depression, and neuropathy. My body doesnt r3gulate heat well and due to FND, I am prone to sizures. Its sad that this is not a friendly, family experience for families anymore. As far as having to show "proof", here in the U.S., it is actually against the law for them to make a person prove a disability, unless you have witness that person blatantly being completely capable. If this doesn't change, not only will I not return to any of thier locations, I will no longer support them in merchandise or streaming app(s).
