Are there scorpions that get into the homes out there? I know that’s a problem in Las Vegas but I was wondering if that’s an issue in Reno as well

Honestly, the weather doesn't sound terrible except for the high end that I know can happen. But I'm from a place where average of winter Temps is -20 and average summer temp is 98. They can easily get a lot colder and a lot hotter.

Being an Asian myself I am so so happy for this review. May be moving out there soon.

You still have cheap rent in reno in a way it just depends on the area honestly actually studios and one bedroom are still ranging from 800-1200 if you live around the downtown area or some areas of sparks is still 800-1200 dollar apts plus theres housing authority out here

Tokio sushi has gotten better in health inspection. Pho 777 is far better than pho999.

Another con, Nevada permits 24/7 alcohol service. Way too many bars here. Causes a lot of problems and crime.

I went to UNR, I loved Reno . A lot of Meth Heads but I’m from Oakland CA so I’m used to the druggies lol.

Yes, Reno is expensive. We moved to Carson City and love it here. The views are spectacular and the people are friendly. It gets cold, but summertime is not overly hot like Arizona. Plus Lake Tahoe is very close so you can go for a day trip easily.

Reno location Cracker Barrel restaurant is scheduled to open in October 2023.

When I retired in July 2014, I moved to Reno from Phoenix. Reno has exceeded all my expectations in every respect. Love the mild change of seasons & all the nearby hiking trails. You made no mention of the Public Bus system that runs 7 days a week from 0500-midnight. You can get to most anywhere in Reno~Sparks by using the modern & up to date bus system. You made no mention of the numerous public parks through Reno~Sparks. You made no mention of the strong manufacturing based economy & that there are many high paying jobs in the Health Care or Construction industries. Also, Donner Lake & the memorial park & museum is a world class attraction. Numerous hiking trails up to waterfalls (Hunter Creek trail) surround Reno~Sparks. The ONLY CON is all the people moving to Reno from Mexifornia. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada

Some areas of Reno are very windy.

For Mexican we like Bertha Miranda's on Mill Street just east of the Auto Museum. Bangkok Thai on Mount Rose (street, not highway) right off of Virginia. I haven't eaten many of the bar food items on the menu at Susshboom Brewery way south on Virginia because I keep getting the Thai chicken wings- they;re huge and juicy, not your typical little dried out things, and smothered in the most addictive sauce. Their beers are pretty good too. Where do you recommend for Indian food, Amy? There's a couple of places in midtown I've been meaning to check out...

I think the stupidest people on the planet are the ones that, say, want to move away from CA because it is too "liberal" for them and think that maybe NV will be this conservative nirvana. ANY city the size of Reno will have people from all ideological spots on the political spectrum. You will be able to find people that think like you and have similar interests. Just don't expect there to be zero that don't. If you don't want to find ANYBODY that doesn't think like you do, move to rural Idaho, or to a commune-like Oregon town. Otherwise, just expect to find some variety anywhere you go.

But on a side note come up to stead and eat at fiesta Mexican the chips and red salsa is fire. And I get the molcajete. Also a burrito of Al pastor. Bang for ur buck Forshure and filling gotta love it. Keep it on the low 🤫

Well let's not forget after taking several hundred thousand dollars in campaign donations from the college, our esteemed Madame mayor found reasons to close down all the affordable housing so the college could buy them up for dorm housing. But not before she managed to buy one of those monthly residential motels and now charges $3,000 a month to live in it
