I have experience with the Cream and Gold. I sold the Cream and bought the Gold because I wanted more chime in the cleans. I do miss the Cream for its middy "klang" though, especially in more driven sounds. When I can afford it, I'm gonna get another Deep Small Vintage cab from Zilla and load it with a Blue and a Cream.

Generally the M creams tend to be a little darker than the neos so it would often be the other way round, but then guitar rigs are so dynamic there isn't a fits-all approach you can do. Both sound good clean but the V30s get really fizzy sounding when overdriven which is probably due to the roughly 7k bump there on the EQ which quite a lot of people have complained about. Apparently this is no longer an issue on V30s made after 2022.
@patrickfouhy9102

Swamp Thang, in my experience, is fantastic. They talked about it being really dark sounding, and that's what makes it perfect for very some players. Especially if you're cranking a Plexi style or a Fender style amp through it that can get a bit piercing when really turned up. For me, I use the Swamp Thang blended with a second speaker. My favorite 2x12 combo is the Swamp Thang and Tonker. For the studio, the Swamp Thang is almost a secret weapon for me, I have a 1x12 cab with one in it, and I always have it ready to go. Inevitably a guitar player will come into my studio and have their 4x12 with Vintage 30s in it. Secretly most producers/engineers hate newer (post mid 90s era when all speakers in the world changed) vintage 30s, their low end is somehow hollow and flubby while their upper mids are incredibly harsh). But, using a Swamp Thang as the primary tone and blending in a V30 to add in some brightness is a great sound.

I've always considered the Creamback version of all Celestion types of speakers. To be the top of the line units. In this instance with alnico mag units, gold is the most vintage voiced "PA" sounding of the group. Then depending on what your after, blue would be my personal 3rd favorite, then red absolutely with one of the new red Epiphone 335's. But the clear winner has to be the crunch machine creamback. Its got the fattest sweet spot by a wide margin. Its gonna be the one for me everytime, if these were my only choices. Mix a red and cream together in a 212 cab to add some top end bite? Dangerous territory.

I am still on vacation so I am listening to it over JBL Extreme II. Not ideal setup. Never the less I know the speakers pretty good. For me personally, clean, the most balanced speaker between them is still the blue. Closest to it is the cream but you can notice that it is bit lazier than blue. Still an awesome speaker and great when you need the power handling as well. Blue has nice breakup bur power handling is just not enough. Blue, clean sounds very good with most of the amplifiers, though 15 Ohm version can be a bit top heavy with P2P boutique amplifiers. Cream does that better. Last 3 amplifiers I have made with Cream. Even two 18 Watt amplifiers were cream equipped. I have to admit that I have avoided ruby from the launch. I have heard 8 Ohm version, if I recall good, and it was extremely dark. All the top end was gone. This one sounds brighter but still worst in both clean and dirty for me. Gold clean has very specific middle to high range and feels more alive. Sometimes driven it reminds me of blue. Cream can get a bit dark when driven. Ruby doesn’t get much darker with dirt. Fascinating actually. I believe gold and ruby might work good in the combination. I know that for me Creamback H or similar ceramic heavy magnet speaker goes well with the Alnico Cream. It works for both clean and dirty. I loved gold with some amplifier because it has that Celestion middle gritty tone. But it is a bit too much with some amplifiers that are aggressive themselves. When I come home I might edit all my comments once I listen to all of this with my studio monitors setup. Though I might have heard it good enough.

Please don´t get me wrong, great playing but doesn´t do justice yo neither the v30 nor the veerable g12H30 real speaker (no china 70´s aniverssry here, I happen to have one g12h30 50hz that came stock with a Laney Lt5 made in england 5 watt class A amp, A single ended 5bq5 amp , with e beautifull marine plywood cabinete and a 12 inch g12H30 50hz, a miracle. I’ve got some 16ohm G12M’s that Im absolutely loving in a 2x12. Seems to solve a lot of the fizz issues with v30 while preserving the low thump that I want. Im wondering if you have any thoughts on them? If I’d known better at the time, I probably would have ordered 8 ohms, but then I’d have more 500hz quack and less high end that I enjoy with these particular 16 ohm speakers
