I personally love to see insides of your cabinets. This vertical 4x12 is so awesome. Especially with kick back casters and handles. Person who never transported 4x12 can’t even imagine how hard it is sometimes. All you need her is tilt the cabinet and pull it. Brilliant! I can imagine 3D projection in room is huge. Yesterday I went with a friend for a amplifier testing day in rehearsal room. All I can fit in car was 3 heads, two 1x12 cabs, two guitars and two bags with pedal boards and cables and such. Even if I fold down my rear seats I think there is no space for classics 4x12. This one is more narrow it seems. Might fit more cars.

Curious the dimensions of this configuration, I think it's cool. Is it true that if you series different drivers it affects their frequency response because the signal is going through different impedances, when if you series the matching pair and parallel the two matched series pairs, the frequency response is correct? I think it works out, I should know as a union trained electrician, but I can't remember the equations lol
@ZillaCabs19 сағат бұрын
Series and parallel will work slightly different when mixing speakers but in practise I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sometimes guitar speakers can be overthought a little, they are so non-linear as it is it can be like up grading the gear box oil but using the wrong type of tyres ;)

What are the advantages/disadvantages of a vertical 4x12 vs a regular 4x12?
@ZillaCabs20 сағат бұрын
Generally they are easier to transport, especially with the kick back casters/handles, and the head is closer to you head, so is the top speaker.... For some people they are a better solution but they don't reinvent the wheel if that makes sense.

I have a 2X12 Hesu, and I have tried a couple of V30, but I don't find very pleasant. I have tried a DV77 with a Hesu Demon and I like the combination IN THE ROOM. But for mixing, I go to V30 for heavy stuff 🤘 Your videos are great ! Very instructives 🙂

Thanks Zilla team for this video again. What is the secret inside the EVH speaker, what did Eddie Van Halen ask for his signature speaker? It can't be only the Franckenstrat' sticker?
@ZillaCabs19 сағат бұрын
Thanks. I'm not sure if there is a secret, I think it's pretty much a modern(ish) replica of late 60s greenback. It's a great speaker with or without the EVH label on there. Thanks for watching.
@angel44official2 күн бұрын
Hi Zilla team and congratulations for the video. G12 M even G12H are not metal speakers so for metal high gain people should choose the G12-65? For classic rock and Blues, all greenback are great, my preference for the 55Hz but in a 4x12 it sounds different. Maybe with a 100 W Marshall tube amp I would choose either 1x 4x12 with G12h30 ( 120 watts driven hard) or 2x 4x12 of G12M-20/25 to drive them smoother with higher sound volume

I'll be honest, when I first heard the Redbacks, I did not like them in comparison to a V30, M25, or H75. However, after doing a lot of modern rock and metal recording, the Redbacks are fantastic. They have an inherent roll off in the highs that really works in a mix and doesn't require too much other than a basic low pass and high pass filter (80hz & 8000hz, respectively). They keep high gain amps from getting harsh and provide a nice thick sound. Only thing is to notch out a little around 250hz and 4khz. Great speaker.
@CraigFlowersMusic2 күн бұрын
Good one for a 1x12 and bright amp but I wouldn't use it unpaired in any other situation or it might sound like I'm a jazz guy trying to do a rock gig lol Plug it into a big giant bright old marshall or hiwatt or something though, and heck yeah.

Eyup! So would love your thoughts on this. I have a Marshall bluesbreaker reissue and I'm currently building a blues breaker clone. the Marshall has 2 Greenbacks and I've got 2 V30 speakers for the clone. My plan was to swap out one of the greenbacks for a V30, then both will have a V30 and greenback. I thought this might deliver a really cool all round tone. Firstly, would the amp be ok with the v30 and greenback combo? Or do you think leaving the greenback in the Marshall, and loading the Clone with the V30s would have a nicer tone. I play such an array or genres from Rock, Metal, to Jazz, country and clean stuff, so would love a versatile combo.Thanks!
@ZillaCabs2 күн бұрын
Start by saying Eyup... you've got my attention ;) you can mix the two just fine. Theres a slight drop in volume between the two but in practice it doesn't really cause a problem. The V30 sound really good in there. In a closed back the V30 can boost the greenback a little but you wont get so much of this in an openback combo... but I'd do it, it should sound great. There are people who will pick up a few issues with it but in a practical situation you'll be good.

Have the F25. Bought it for my Dr. Z Z-Wreck Amp, because it had a little bit better tonal definition than the stock Greenback. I swapped it out for the Celestion Alnico Ruby, which I think works better with that amp. I like the F25 in a closed back cab better, but with most "M" style magnet speakers, think that it would be better in 2x12 or 4x12 cabinets vs. 1x12 cabinets.

I have the V30 8 ohm and a GM Creamback 8 ohm paired in a 2x12 cab. The Creamback is smoother with a warmer midrange, but the V30 helps maintain some bite without it getting too spikey. Compliments my H&K GMD40.

I love the M creamback. Especially when playing lead stuff. There’s no harshness on the top end and you get this lovely low mid gurth!! I also love the Neo, and my guess would be these two paired would make a killer rock to metal cab. You don’t want that extreme low end that the H gives you and there’s to much top end. I’ve tried the H before and I ended up replacing it.

Rock guy agrees :) Great video. On it's own it is a bit to dark speaker for me. In a 2x12 it is a part of one of my dearest combinations. M plus H in 2x12 is a dream for ceramic speakers and will do equally good clean and low gain and middle again. It will even do higher gain but then again for my taste. Alone it is good for brighter amplifiers. Power handling is good and compression is pleasant. It definitely has that middle range that is Celestion signature thing. Those jagged spikes in higher middle range are just perfection for rock guitar with lower gain. Sure might irritate someone at high gain but everything under that high gain will profit from that Celestion trademark middle. On the paper H and M might sound like strange combination. M has 97 dB/W/m and H has 100 dB/W/m. So one would say M will not be bringing enough in the mix because 3dB is a big step. You need twice more power to achieve 3dB. But number does not tell the whole story. Frequency response curve and middle range just pokes enough. Proof is in the puding. It just works. Together they sound better than any of them on it's own. Anyways I have to say I love whole Cream series and each and every one of those speakers has it's function and place according to me at least :)

Creamback for me. Loving the Creamback NEO. Metallica is about as heavy as I go. Covers everything else as well. I bought a 2 x 12 Closed back Orange Cab with V30s, not a fan. Put Creambacks in, the cab came alive.
