I recently bought an HX Stomp and it does not seem to track well at all with fast distorted runs. I noticed you have a Kemper back there. Do you have any such issues? Is it something I just need to get used to and adapt to or should I put something like a ToneX or Iridium in the loop to replace the stock amps? Thanks in advance.
@ChrisBrooksGuitar15 күн бұрын
Kemper tracks like a regular amp. I don't have any experience with the other items you mentioned I'm afraid.

How does that guitar compare to your green Charvel San Dimas? Do the necks feel similar in any way? Which would would you prefer if you could only have 1?
@ChrisBrooksGuitar25 күн бұрын
Both high quality but the San Dimas is locking and 24 fret so that's going to appeal to a different player perhaps. It has a leaner neck too.

Thanks a lot for the wonderful explanation and killer demonstration Boss! Does the Vega Trem VT1 come with a sustain block attached to it? I remember upgrading the stock sustain block on a Squier with a 37 mm brass block and that significantly improved the resonance and sustain. I am afraid, that this VT1 will rob the strat of the sustain, because you can't use the stock sustain block that comes with the strat. Could you please chime in on that ? Thanks and Regards
@ChrisBrooksGuitar25 күн бұрын
You can Google images of the block. It's not interchangeable with other steel blocks because that's part of the design that allows full floating motion inside a Strat cavity.

I guess you could try using one of the other springs in the middle position and see how that goes.

What do you like better. The USA or Japan models?
@ChrisBrooksGuitar28 күн бұрын
Japan for these 70s style in particular. I've owned a couple of USA Malmsteens and they were very nice but I never get high E string slippage with these. And even though it's a small difference, I prefer 10 inch radius to 9.5 inch

That's just mad! I hit my talent ceiling on more melodic solos (Comfortably numb and Unforgiven - that kind of ilk) can play the odd shred lick but tried things like Lucretia solo or Tornado of Souls. Get so far then just go back to something I'm capable of. Playing 25 years, regular practice, can't get near that kind of shred. Bravo!

These trems are amazing. I own 3 and soon to be more. Something that wasn’t said that should be is the quality of the steel. It’s extremely well machined and very comfortable on the side of your palm. You will also notice a difference in the amount of sustain. Tuning stability is excellent with locking tuners and a graph tech nut or bone with some Big Ben's nut sauce or whatever else you prefer. I don’t own a Fender LSR roller nut but I bet that would be a would be a great match as well.

Awesome as always Chris. Though I noticed something. As explained in a different video, you changed your left hand fingering to work on Yngwie stuff. But how come you didn't change your guitar posture (guitar over right leg vs left)?
@ChrisBrooksGuitarАй бұрын
Thanks! I change my fingering to _teach_ the Yngwie stuff. I've always been fully capable of either fingering. With posture, that's just not something I wanted to budge on. I switched to classical position full time about 10 years ago - partly for camera so my head and guitar are face-front, but mostly because sitting there for hours with a twisted back and different shoulder heights, I found it affecting my everyday posture away from the guitar.
@wanderer9355Ай бұрын
@@ChrisBrooksGuitar makes sense. From your experience, would you have any tips for someone trying to switch to the classical guitar posture?
@ChrisBrooksGuitarАй бұрын
I talked about it in the video on playing without tension, but the short version is that I use a foot stool under my left foot, I position my guitar and set my strap height in such a way that the guitar has perfect balance without using my arms to hold the guitar in position.
@wanderer9355Ай бұрын
@@ChrisBrooksGuitar the strap!! I had forgotten about that. It helps balance the weight of the guitar and prevents the left hand (esp. the thumb) from having to bear the weight. Thanks for this. I'll head over and check out the playing without tension video.

Hey Chris huge fan of your content. just a question, dose every yngwie signature Strat have the speed pot? even todays? I have one I bought last year, it's a 2023 model and I swear the volume knob isn't any easier to turn than my made in Mexico Strat. But the bottom tone knob has the notch, & It's an authentic fender product. Just curious, how much easier is it to turn the speed pot? Do you think I should be able to tell the difference? There's little info online about this topic, I just wanted to see if maybe you knew! I want to get good at these volume swells! haha cheers thanks
@ChrisBrooksGuitarАй бұрын
Hey, thanks so much for the kind words and for enjoying the content. The speed pot comes standard on the loaded pick guard from Seymour Duncan and as an aftermarket product but from what I was aware, Fender use the pickups but still do their own cradles and pickguards so I don't think it's on the guitar as a standard issue. I could be wrong as I don't have a USA model to check. The notch in the tone controls is a bypass I think. They are not engaged until you move them because Yngwie disconnects his altogether.
@NlCKELODEONАй бұрын
@ Kind of a disappointment if fender did not included this on my “signature guitar” it should be to spec of how he plays it.. nonetheless, it’s still killer guitar! I appreciate your input on this boss! Keep doing these awesome tutorials, you’re the only guy doing them to this standard! Rock on! 🤘🏻

I have been watching interviews with Yngwie and he says that he do not "sweep pick,." when it seems that he does sweep pick. Do you any insight into what he means when he says he do not sweep pick?
@ChrisBrooksGuitarАй бұрын
A combination of lying and not knowing, I guess. Watching him say this many times, I think he's under the impression that swept notes bleed into each other and must always be a single downstroke and upstroke, but his larger arpeggios are broken up into two-string and three-string units, so I guess he thinks that makes him exempt. He fails to understand that even something as small as his Trilogy triads use a sweep. He even says on the REH video that his picking is alternate and sweeping but he doesn't think about it much.
@Dreaming_GenioАй бұрын
@@ChrisBrooksGuitar Interesting. That what I would have guessed, that he sweeps but chooses not to call it that for some reason. Also, I have been going through your Speed Strategies book and really love it. I just purchased your 1980's rhythm guitar book and looking to try write and play rhythm parts more in that style. Thanks for providing these resources! 🙏
