I’ll save everyone 11:19 DONT BUY WINCHESTER SAFES The keypad fail, the company doesn’t answer the phones, they do t return emails, and finally after getting the BBB involved they send you a keypad that doesn’t fit your safe. Not that you can open it to plug it in anyway.
@mkat7408 күн бұрын
One thing I have learned is you get what you pay for there are no safes of equal thickness in metals better than the average price to make them. If you think you're getting a great deal the safe is probably not that higher price anyway. There not paying to buy metals and other parts and paying employees to lose money.
@homemadechow35328 күн бұрын
I fully agree with you. You do get what you pay for. I don't think that this safe claims to be the best safe ever made or that it can never be cracked. There is a product for everyone's need. For me, this safe is used to keep my grand children seperated from my fire arms. It's called being a responsible gun owner. If someone needs a safe to prevent Ocean's eleven from getting their priceless family jewels, I'd recommend a different one as well.

Does it have a loud or soft sound while plugged it?
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
I guess how soft or loud is a bit relative. I can hear it when the compressor turns on to cool the water. In my opinion it's not very loud, but we do have activity in our kitchen most of the time. Every once in a while the hose will vibrate off the back and it will be loud, but I just move the jug over a bit and it stops.

What’s the trick to the clips to hold the shelves down? For the life of me I can’t get them off
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
You can take a flat head screw driver and pry them up. They will pop off.

Good review! I saw some of these on sale. And like you said for the price, it can't be beat. Thought I'd looks at review before buying. Someone told me to invest in "Rifle Rods" to utilize the space of the safe. Maybe something you can look into as well.
@Eli-qr9hcАй бұрын
Btw, do you know, or what is the weight limit per shelf in the safe?
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
Sorry, not sure of the weight limit of the shelf. They are made of particle board that is about 1/2 inch thick. I wouldn't keep gold bars on there if I were you. Lol
@mikevivenzio9851Ай бұрын
How did you remove the clips
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
If you're refering to the shelf clips, all you have to do is apply upward pressure to it and it should release fairly easy.
@DUNNDUNN3030Ай бұрын
I cant get my front two out with out breaking them I feel like
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
When I first opened it, those shelf clips were tight. You can use a flat head screw driver to lift up the clip from the far end. This will pop it loose.
@ScottW106Ай бұрын
I used channel locks and loosely grasped the plastic clips. Rotate them upwards and outwards and they come right out of the track.
@Eli-qr9hcАй бұрын
Is there a need to remove the bottom brackets under the shelf, and do you know what the weight capacity is for the shelves inside the safe?
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
I guess there's no need to remove them. However, if you wish to bolt the safe to the floor, you will have to remove them. The holes that attach those are the same that you use to secure it to the floor.
@Eli-qr9hcАй бұрын
@@homemadechow3532 is there a special technique to pop those clips off on the inside mine feel like they’re in pretty tight. I don’t wanna tear it or break it or snap it

Thanks for the video. Unless the threaded stud on the front shock is as long as the original GM OE shock you will have trouble if you try to use brand new GM OE insulators. I bought Monroe Reflex 911505 front shocks. The stud on these is one inch shorter than the original GM front shock. This one inch difference made it impossible to use new GM OE insulators (GM#15834275 and GM#15042048) - even if you lift the shock as far as possible you cannot get the nut to catch on the stud. I either had to use the small insulators that came with the new Monroe shocks or reuse the old compressed insulators. You might be able to get some kind of clamp onto the new insulators once they are installed and compress them together enough, but I couldn't do it. Reluctantly I used the old insulators because they looked better than the ones that came in the Monroe Reflex box.

I’ve owned this safe for over 2 years. In and out of it almost daily to get my EDC. I have had ZERO issues with the keypad. Hope this helps
@anthonythomas540724 күн бұрын
Mine just stopped working. No sound at all from the keypad. A friend told me to take the battery out and put a wire across the terminals (the mechanism's connector, not the battery). That worked. Evidently dry winter air creates static electricity which can disrupt the circuits. So I emailed Winchester about replacing the lock with an S&G or equivalent, and they said dial locks won't work. My lock guy friend said that it would likely be pretty time consuming to modify the safe to fit a "real" lock. So.... keep your emergency keys handy. I'm probably going to buy a replacement lock from Winchester for the next time it happens.

I am refurbishing a 16 3/4 ft. Kevlar canoe that got crushed in a massive snow storm that dumped almost five feet of wet snow on top of it! Even Kevlar can’t hold up in such conditions but I have managed to repair it with epoxy, Kevlar and fibreglass! Stronger than before and only maybe it will be 5 pounds heavier than before! Been mulling how I am going to replace the wooden seats and may use a version of the seats I see on your but made out of 3/8 plywood, fibreglassed and supported underneath in a similar manner! Thanks for your ideas!

Good question. Mostly because I'm lazy and didn't want to have to do all that. Using that crimping tool does just as good of a job as soldering in my opinion.
