Great review! The Winchester gun safe is a fantastic choice for protecting not just our firearms, but also our fundamental rights. It's reassuring to know our valuable possessions are secure, allowing us to enjoy our Second Amendment rights with peace of mind. Great investment for any responsible gun owner!

How difficult do you think it would be to remove the center divider? It looks somewhat permanent. Thank you!

This looks to fit only about 6-8 typical AR/AK style rifles with optics, lights, slings, or bipods attached. Looking into changing out the digital keypad to a manual one due to ongoing reported problems

I’ve owned this safe for over 2 years. In and out of it almost daily to get my EDC. I have had ZERO issues with the keypad. Hope this helps

Mine just stopped working. No sound at all from the keypad. A friend told me to take the battery out and put a wire across the terminals (the mechanism's connector, not the battery). That worked. Evidently dry winter air creates static electricity which can disrupt the circuits. So I emailed Winchester about replacing the lock with an S&G or equivalent, and they said dial locks won't work. My lock guy friend said that it would likely be pretty time consuming to modify the safe to fit a "real" lock. So.... keep your emergency keys handy. I'm probably going to buy a replacement lock from Winchester for the next time it happens.

Completely agree - in no way can this hold 26 long guns. I tried for over an hour and multiple configurations before I finally found a way to get 10 long guns in. I don’t really worry about the composite stocks, but the shotguns and deer rifles with nice wood stocks bang together no matter how careful I am when inserting or removing them. I got this as a present out of the blue so I didn’t do my own research, but I am amazed that not one of the online reviews I have seen so far mention this at all. Why not design it to fit real guns and be honest about the capacity? It isn’t like Winchester is new to the rifle business or anything.

@@cdetamu1991 I've found that pretty much every safe manufacturer has a quite optimistic opinion on how many guns can fit. Unless maybe they're all 22s with no optics, like a Marlin 60 or something.

Great demonstration but how do you change the factory code? Thanks
@anthonythomas54076 күн бұрын
@@Anthony74te27 It's in the manual. I think you enter 000000 to put it into change mode, then whatever your current code is, then your new one. Door has to be open with bolts extended. But make sure you test the new combo a couple of times before you shut and lock the door!

Can you remove the center divider?

The center divider is permanent. But I imagine, if you really want it out, you can find a way.

What’s the trick to the clips to hold the shelves down? For the life of me I can’t get them off
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
You can take a flat head screw driver and pry them up. They will pop off.

How did you remove the clips
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
If you're refering to the shelf clips, all you have to do is apply upward pressure to it and it should release fairly easy.

I cant get my front two out with out breaking them I feel like
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
When I first opened it, those shelf clips were tight. You can use a flat head screw driver to lift up the clip from the far end. This will pop it loose.
@ScottW106Ай бұрын
I used channel locks and loosely grasped the plastic clips. Rotate them upwards and outwards and they come right out of the track.

Is there a need to remove the bottom brackets under the shelf, and do you know what the weight capacity is for the shelves inside the safe?
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
I guess there's no need to remove them. However, if you wish to bolt the safe to the floor, you will have to remove them. The holes that attach those are the same that you use to secure it to the floor.

@@homemadechow3532 is there a special technique to pop those clips off on the inside mine feel like they’re in pretty tight. I don’t wanna tear it or break it or snap it

After watching “KZbin” videos on how to open safes with lost combinations I opened mine in less than 30 minutes. How safe are they?
@DabblelyDiddly6 күн бұрын
most of these are just giant fire safes unless it has a TL rating.
@Eli-qr9hcАй бұрын
Btw, do you know, or what is the weight limit per shelf in the safe?
@homemadechow3532Ай бұрын
Sorry, not sure of the weight limit of the shelf. They are made of particle board that is about 1/2 inch thick. I wouldn't keep gold bars on there if I were you. Lol

One thing I have learned is you get what you pay for there are no safes of equal thickness in metals better than the average price to make them. If you think you're getting a great deal the safe is probably not that higher price anyway. There not paying to buy metals and other parts and paying employees to lose money.
@homemadechow353217 күн бұрын
I fully agree with you. You do get what you pay for. I don't think that this safe claims to be the best safe ever made or that it can never be cracked. There is a product for everyone's need. For me, this safe is used to keep my grand children seperated from my fire arms. It's called being a responsible gun owner. If someone needs a safe to prevent Ocean's eleven from getting their priceless family jewels, I'd recommend a different one as well.
