Saw dweezil play a couple months ago, and went to a QnA before the show, he spoke very highly of his dad and was honored to carry his legacy. He talked about how he was limited to his freedom of playing whatever he wants from his fathers catalog because of intellectual properties and such and he was allowed to listen, write sheet music and play a certain selection of unreleased recordings from certain Zappa eras

Never a fan, still not but it is so f----ing refreshing to see what i knew was real. Pete Seeger was the real deal. Zappa was a frustrated and spoiled brat, but, I love a certain part of his career and had an amazing time at his show 1984 Santa Cruz, CA. It was the Cap'n Beefheart stuff that finally finished Frank's stuff for me. To each their own, but I like Parliament- Funkadelic and Gong stuff better, or Henry Cow. Or mine... That his father worked as a chemist and mathematician at the Edgewood Arsenal chemical warfare facility in Maryland researching poison gases/nerve agents, etc. seems to get little attention when looking into Frank's emotional makeup. His fathering technique appeared to be to not have any beyond financial support. He was away on tour for 8 months at a time, and when he was home he would sleep all day/work all night in his basement dungeon, precluding much contact with his wife (whom he cheated on, of course) and 4 children.

Testify. The man never wrote one decent song. He was clever and he was a good musician but he always thought he was at least a 100 times funnier than he actually was. He made fun of the Beatles and here he is standing by his swimming pool. Yawn. Until he took on the PMRC in the 80’s. Which is to me the only interesting thing he did besides sign the original Alice Cooper Band but then completely ignored them anyway.

@@Stonecutter334 What have you brought into the world that gives you this stunning insight into the world's most famous people ? you must be standing on the shoulders of giants to hold opinions like that... I never band about the term genius lightly, but there are a hell of a lot of artists who claim Frank Zappa was a genius, therefore I think we can safely say he was probably was a genius. You obviously don't fully appreciate music much, because if you did, you would never of made those silly comments. What ever band Frank Zappa leading at any given time, probably had more chops, skill and talent than the whole top 40 of the day... At 1.36 We see Flo & Eddie, a comedy rock duo consisting of Mark Volman (Flo, short for Phlorescent Leech) and Howard Kaylan (Eddie). The two were the original founding members of the 1960s rock and pop band the Turtles. After the Turtles dissolved in 1970, Volman and Kaylan first joined Frank Zappa's band the Mothers of Invention as 'Phlorescent Leech & Eddie'.

Etc etc etc had the fusion between jazz and classical and rock.... I had no interest in listening to comedy rock with jazz flavors ...few years later saw two different Zappa bands and felt like i went to a musical stage production that had enough flavor f for 3 bands/ 4 bands. Years later saw Dweezil live... they did a medley of 250 songs in about 9/10 minutes... musical diversity is in his blood. I prefer Frank's instrumental music...🎶
