Human physiology is minimally effected by magnetic fields, we're largely made of non magnetic elements and elements such as Iron in our blood is part of proteins and molecules that render it either non magnetic or so minimally magnetic you need a simply absurd multi kilowatt electromagnet or equivalent permanent magnet to even begin having an effect. TL:DR; these magnets are several orders of magnitude too small to be even remotely dangerous

The bass on the HE4XX is not bad at all when you use it with an amp, which you absolutely should be doing.

Many European audiophiles grew up on warm "english" sound, so their definition of HiFi perfection might be different. Also the price is a lot more if you are in the EU, placing it in a different category.

@@clarity.5196 As an Englishman I'm feeling smug about this. I think importing to England itself may be a bit cheaper than Europe. Shipping was about $10 which isn't much on $160. My first headphones over £40 were German, Sennheiser Momentums, which are generally found to be warm, and I'm sure I'll still treasure them.

What is your update on the 1990 and HE4xx?

87detto My update is a bit of mixed feelings. I received my HE4XX and was quite pleased with the sound when listening in comparison to my DT990 Pros back at my parents‘ (I‘m a student and no longer living at home). They definitely sound GREAT for the price! Sadly, bass wasn‘t as punchy as I expected it to be, my DT990 Pros do offer by far more bass (though it‘s a bit too much for my personal preference, also sound isn‘t even close to perfection on the 990s, but they‘re still absolutely bang for the buck). They sounded a bit like headphones that are lacking power. So I thought I‘ll do an 8 hour burnin and then bring them with me to my apartment, where I have my Schiit AMP&DAC stack and my 1990 Pros. My final review using a 200+$ DAC/AMP combo: The HE4XX sound really clean, there‘s less distortion than with the 990 Pros. The width of the soundstage isn‘t exactly as wide and they are not so detailed as the 990 Pros, but the 990 Pros tend to sound a little bit worse when too much is going on at the same time, they can‘t keep up with the 4XX in this regard. Highs are precise, light, not too forward (especially noticable during comparison to the 1990 Pros with their high peak, more on that later on), mids are really soft and a pleasure to listen to when just hearing music to relax and bass goes down really deep, sounds a lot „different“ than bass on headphones with normal drivers, but isn‘t as punchy as I expected it to be. They‘re great headphones for the price and beat the 990 Pros in a few disciplines (especially distortion)! But comparison to the 1990 Pros makes them look old: to keep it short, 1990 Pros sound better at everything (personal preference obviously)... I sent my 4XX back either way, since they had a broken headband that would reset it‘s position on one side and keep it on the other. @@87detto dont bother... by HD660s or Focal elex and thats it. Everything else sounds artificial even the mighty 1990s are way to bright for anyone searching a realistic sound.
