Spain is a great place to visit, but I don’t like the culture much. I married a Spanish girl, been to Spain dozens of times, I know Spain well. Their rude waiters, slow service, terrible attitudes are epic, and insulting. Most things created here are half assed, Mickey Mouse, and their customer service is backwards….the store owner is king, customers are peasants. There is rarely service with a smile. I have worked projects in Spain too…they are generally lazy, slow workers, not so motivated. If you move here, you must be a party animal to be happy, but even that will get old.

It also depends in the part of Spain you live. For example in the Basque Country you have no problems for scheduling a medical appointment online. Maybe the closest thing to big convenience be store it's El Corte Ingles or Eroski. With toilet paper it's easier to be lucky in cinemas and coffee shops than in bars. For burocracy always consult the regions calendar beforehand. About transport I've never experienced in Bilbao the lack of space in the subway as in London.😂😂😂

I'm going to give DIFFERENT parts of Spain a few more chances (because of the weather, or, rather, to get _away_ from the soggy Irish winter), but yeah, I've just been there for the first time in my adult life and it was utterly impossible. If anyone knows anywhere that's warm and dry in the winter but basically has northern-European social norms, I'm all ears. (There's Gibraltar, but that wouldn't work for the way I travel due to its size (and it's probably full of retirees too, another impediment to doing cocklodging).)

Change your doctor. There fixed. You had a very shitti* doctor. That never really happen to me. The bank thing is annoying for everyone. They only work mornings so if you work mornings you cant just go... and i have had to send my own mother in my place a few times fot that reason Ive heard that many of the food they sell in America is ban in Europe so thats why u wont find it in Spain. It has to pass many health tests... cant remember what its called. So you wont find most things you look for.

I cannot explain my reason for learning Spanish. It has been almost a lifelong interest for me. When I was a kid the Nextdoor neighbors were a Mexican family and I was fascinated listening to them speaking Spanish. But I had to wait until the 9th grade before I could start learning Spanish. My first year I got the Spanish Award and that really inspired me. Spanish was offered for only two years then. After discharge from the USAF I enrolled in junior college and majored in Spanish and then moved on to university for two more years of Spanish. Since then I have learned much more “por mi cuenta” as they say. I haven’t had a lot of experience speaking with native speakers because of my timidity. I have let so many opportunities pass by. Internet is amazing. I’m sure I would have done much better if we had had internet in the days when I was in college. Now I watch videos and listen to podcasts and there is a lot of Spanish on Facebook. I’ve always dreamed of Lu bing in Spain to improve my Spanish by being immersed in the language but that was not to be. I married a woman from República Dominicana expecting that we would be speaking Spanish at home but not so. She prefers to speak English. Now I practice speaking Spanish to myself. I could write a lot more on this subject but I know this is already too much so I’ll stop now. Llevo casi 63 años aprendiendo español pero todavía no puedo decir que lo domino.

I think your comments were balanced and quite fair. I’ve been living in Spain for coming up 20-years now and it is different from say the UK where I’m from. It’s a beautiful country with an incredible history but can also be extremely insular. Older people in particular haven’t travelled outside of their country like ever and believe that everything Spanish is the best. It’s very much a case of us having to adjust to the Spanish way of doing or thinking. I think that we extranjeros are more tolerated than welcomed. It’s a very insular country and slow to change. Just my opinion of course and like you I love Spain and my life here.

Heey, I disagree with some, i think we don't wear the bag in the back because it is rude and it takes more space than in the ground. I've never been stolen and I don't care at all where i leave the phone. It is extremely safe. And about the gym clothes I have never seen that, I think it is completely normal to dress however you want even with swimsuit. Also I find weird that someone offers you a flower for free, never seen that either. Spain has bad things but I definetly think those are not true hahaha, at least in madrid

Part Two: I can say that Spanish women can be beautiful and delicate and feminine. Truth. However, for me to go beyond that is out of my league. The men however are WHY I´m obsessed with Spanish. Keeping it as polite as I can, and having asked not simply Spaniards but AI, it's true that most Spaniard men don't wear underwear and are uncommonly blessed. Also, they tend to wear tight pants and have thick hairy chests which, they button starting at the bottom of their chest! Add the fact they have the most gorgeous faces of any race with stunning eyes and, he could be fat. Who cares! I mean when you got all THAT going for you, the extra weight is just as sexy! My point is, I think they have added some pounds but, they have other assets which...anyway, Spanish men are more delicious than the food. Finally, the language. When I truly try to master the accent, which is my thing, they get enthusiastic about it. To a Spaniard and to me, not trying is a clear signal of arrogance or stupidity or both. Brits and Americans both SUCK at trying and their arrogance shows in their lack of trying. The vowels A, E, I, O, U are NOT NOT NOT the same and I personally won't speak to or listen to a person who doesn't try. I simply won't. Spaniards are probably even worse and I don't blame them. In fact, I wish Spaniards would learn to tell Anglos to F off with English!

Why is this 58 year old gay guy so concerned about you and your channel? I don't know. I consider myself a masculinist on top of everything else but, there is just something...beautiful, non-offensive, adventurous I would want for my daughter if I ever had one, which I didn't. Okay, so, question number one, answer from the expert: Take a small paper bag, crush it until it's soft, put two raw eggs in their shell in it and look at it. Huevos. ¡Hola huevo! Yep. Me cuesta un huevo a decírtelo. Question two: I have a Spaniard friend in Poland who is straight but, he jumped at the chance to come and live with me, bedroom implied, because...chick, life is hard and time is ticking fast. I´m married and I don´t do that but...imagine a world where you see all these beautiful things, and your very culture is based on having a house, Estoy CASADO, right? You meet these Americans like me who earn $120K a year and you never will in Spain or Europe. Things cost just as much but, you can't hope to have them. THAT is the dream. I WILL find a brother in Spain and bring him here, and let him do what we've done: Earn the money to retire. I want that for a Spaniard without asking for anything in return. I've been so selfish all my life. The US is a cultural vampire, a corruptor, and I was once a Patriot saying this but, evil. We have sold everything of value for money. They have everything of value except money. It sucks. About the loud. The #1 complaint of the long list of British complaints is «Spaniards are loud». They are loud AND, the young ones like to throw up on buses and stuff because THAT is what the Anglos do in Spain. Payback, sort of. When they get stupid enough to kill themselves by jumping out of hotel balconies like the Brits well, I quit.

Welcome to socialized universal healthcare which benefits no one, costs everyone and you can't get care even if you're willing to pay for it. Another failure of socialism. US: ¨you could lose your house!¨ Socialized medicine: ¨You can lose your life waiting!¨. I feel ya on the AC! I'm gay so, having men rub into me and paw all over it is AWESOME! No issues with personal space. I got touched more by straight Spaniards than a full night at a gay bar! It is weird having a Spaniard put his hand on my arm and leave it there while talking to me. I mean weird like, cool but, not cool because I'm married and he makes me wish I wasn't and self-control dude! self...contr...ah, hell with it. Tell me that story again Ignacio.

Brief me and then, you. I'm always the one getting shouted down because I have a super low tolerance for American stupidity abroad. I thought I was going to HATE your video and, I loved it. My American loyalties fade where Spain is concerned and I particularly resent the cultural destruction and corruption the inferior English Language inflicts on Spain and the world. I´m natively American and I´ve just had enough with the love of money being ¨a great thing¨! Onto your video. GREAT JOB! Respectful of Spain and Spaniards. LOVE THAT. The British are the worst but first only over Americans with the ¨So, what do you do for a living?¨Rudest, stupidest, meanest, most competitively arrogant question to post to someone you don't even know! If someone wants to volunteer they are an advanced network engineer then, that´s fine. When we come to understand that we're able to earn 3x what they do that phone on the table becomes $3,300 instead of $1,100 and you can see the temptation. Again, you were totally respectful. Thank you for representing Angloparlantes as well as you do.

One of the most beautiful things about Spain is when you go to a bar to drink some beers with your friends and literally after a minute of recieving the beers they're like, let's order some patatas bravas, some extra tapas or anything to eat actually, when the purpose was to drink some beers with friends

As someone born and raised in Spain, I always ask the person if they have a work or what do they do with their lifes in that regard; it's totally normal, but not asking how much money they get each month. Also nowadays is quite trendy to wear the sporty look so that's it. We were shorts when it's hot! Ohh the people with the rosemary... and never, eeever, take the rosemary some lady is willing to "gift" you because they will tell you to pay because she will tell you your fortune etc. Avoid people handing you rosemary or other flowers at all costs, they will shout at you saying they will put a spell on you nevertheless xDD. Always keep your belongings close. If you are on the subway keep your purses as if they were your babies yes. Politics yes, avoid that topic with a stranger. Yes to local places for eeating, if you go to la Plaza Mayor and go somewhere full of tourists... not good for your economy. I like to be punctual, when someone comes 15 minutes late I get pissed. Oh yes, people drink beer in Granada just to get tapas; I don't like beer. And DO NOT expect getting coffe after 8pm because they will only offer you alcohol, that sucks for me, unless you are going to Starbucks, Vips ertc. We don't go around smiling that's true. And expect two kisses for the same gender when you get to know eachother for the first time, I always give my hand to men (I am a woman) and look at me like I'm crazy but I don't fcking care :)

For me, the Spanish way of accepting small children in all environments is way better than the protective and restrictive Anglo-Saxon approach e.g. barring children from pubs (I once saw a noticeboard outside a pub near London with a warning in capitals: 'No animals, no travellers, no children'). In Spain children are introduced from an early age to the atmosphere of a bar, and they sit down to have dinner with their parents in a posh restaurant. Why not? Treating them like adults in these environments probably helps to avoid them turning into binge-drinking alcoholic teenagers (or young adults in the US). The other benefit is that drunken adults tend to behave much better when there are children around.

I agree with your point about the lack of variety of food in supermarkets. You can easily find almost an entire aisle devoted to olives, but you won't find a single jar or packet of kalamata olives. Which are from another Mediterranean country, with a similar Mediterranean culture, and similar Mediterranean food, and which my wife says are the best olives. And she's Spanish.

Health in Madrid has been rapidly degraded by the conservative policies of his government. I live in a town in the South and I shouldn't wait more than a day or two to see the doctor. The Madrid president's dream is to privatize healthcare and imitate the US model where if you don't have money you die at the hospital door.
