This is just one of the items I do not understand on the QC. Questions: If I change the Global EQ on a specific preset-Does the Global EQ hold my changes for any/all presets or Scenes... or is it just per-Preset/Scene? Thanks for video-For me, I'll need to watch this again and then try making changes with the Global EQ to understand it. Truth be told, I do not understand/know which frequencies are Bass, Mid, High. The High Pass/Low pass filters are confusing for some reason.

Yes, as per the name it is a global parameter. Regardless of the preset/scene you are in

With anything digital it seems there is no way away from the input level debates. Why would it not be fixed at a level that simulates a real amplifier input level and the guitar should do the rest (i.e be higher or lower gain). There are no real amps where you trim your guitar output level to it's maximum volume (compared to other guitars) on the way in. Is this different than all the input gain discussions out there? ie kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3amepydpM-fe8k. I notice in the video you increase the input gain, but then turn down the capture gain (probably because of the increased input gain)...

Modern 24bit AD converters have reached a level of resolution that you don’t have to hit them hard. I’ve been running my QC so the input isn’t hitting the red at all.

What's the best way to manage master output (volume knob) and output levels so that you have strong output without deafening yourself? My understanding is the volume knob should be as close to 100 as possible to maintain best signal to noise ratio, but if I do that I have to adjust preset output or I/O settings to like -20Db. Wouldn't that be a problem in a live scenario, or would the sound guy just bump up levels to compensate?

Good video and very interesting thoughts on QC.. Am I wrong or you mentioned the MX5 unit as previously owned? Do you think there is a big increase and improvement in terms of sounds and usability? (I currently own the MX5 and I'm thinking on buy QC)
@DCFGuitar
@DCFGuitar 29 күн бұрын
The QC is honestly on a completely different level over the MX5. I would still consider if you need the extra functionality/flexibility of the QC as the MX5 is good in its own right

I've considered getting the 12 you mentioned, but I'm murdering my live thing via my pair of 15's (2way P.A. cabs) behind me, sometimes I only use one in most situations, it sounds freaking amazing!! I have a very small mixer on a music stand in front of me with the added access to micro tweaking if needed, most times it's just perfect as I've tuned it as standard in most situations, I'm juicing mine via a Crown power amp parked in the background out of sight, man, it's so good it destroys 4x12 boutique rigs included honestly. I'm luckier than most for sure because I'm also utilising a pair of original BOSS FA-1 units in my signal chain for the magic-sauce factor....bloody sublime and glorious brother!!!...it's all about the balls man! that, and moving the air properly.

Thanks for the video, and nice playing on the gig portion of the video 👍🏻 I’m in the process of redoing my rig as I currently find myself “bandless” for the first time in a long time, and I’m a few years older than you (59 cough cough 🤦🏻‍♂️😆) and lugging around heavy amps is not fun anymore. I recently picked up a Tonex One that I will be using in conjunction with a few other pedals for a small board, but I’m gonna need something to put it all through. Amongst other things, I was looking at both the FR 10 and the FR 12. You just may have talked me into one of them. Thanks 😊

The lightest and most effective option cold be to grab a light 2 way plastic f/b 2 way wedge, mount it as you would a conventional combo type amp perhaps, you will be bloody amazed at how you missed the option sooner.

Setting levels is the biggest issue with digital multi amp/fx/ do it all pre-sets… the only way is to play with your band and … trial and error, and at least the QC offers easy ‘in battle’ interface to tweak tone and volumes

Just bought my Quad Cortex today and right out the box I am amazed. The Roland twin chorus, Marshall, and Red 5150. Just those 3 sounds without editing anything make this worth every dollar. I am floored how dynamic this is. It actually sounds like the best amp I use to own. The way the bass responds and digs in. I am floored. I can't believe how tight this is with ZERO NOISE. Shocking. I also bought the ToneXone pedal last month and they are worlds apart. The sound is there, but the soul is not. It still sounds like a solid state. The QC is something else entirely. I am very happy and cannot recommend people - no matter how long - save up and buy this. I used it as my interface for the hell of it and it is beautiful.

It's not really about clipping, the thing is to hit the front of the amp capture with the same level as if you plugged straight into the real thing, so 0db is where it's at. Unless you dont care about hitting your captures harder and getting more distortion from them of course.

So I'm switching from the fender tone master pro over to the quad cortex. Main reasons for me was I was not happy with the tones I was getting with the previous unit specifically towards the high gain tones. There's a lot more choice here but there's also a lot more solid presets to build from that just sound amazing. I have tons of impulse responses from own hammer and bogrine digital and they do sound wonderful on the quad cortex but of course the built-in cab sound phenomenal as well. My only gripe is the power supply and having to use some kind of an external Jerry rig device seems really bad at this price point. I'm going to look into just making a custom transformer that hooks onto my pedal board, that has a regular power cable out... I swear the OEM power supply is made of dental floss. Definitely some good points in your video thanks for sharing

Hi. Great video! One quick question: I created a splitter/mixer path with a cab module and it works great. However, if I turn the cab module off (essentially, leaving an "empty" splitter line), there is a strange noise when I play the guitar. The noise disappears if I turn on any module on the splitter path. Is that normal behavior of the QC? Thanks!
@DCFGuitar
@DCFGuitar 2 ай бұрын
Not sure what you mean by strange noise, but it will typically sound bad if you don’t use a cab block with an amp block and are running it into an frfr or studio monitors
@richard.ayudant
@richard.ayudant 2 ай бұрын
@@DCFGuitar My issue is that I expected that if I disabled every module in the split path (the path in the second row, but without removing the path itself), the sound would come out as if no split path was ever added. But it turns out that that is not the case; the sound comes out "different" and I am not sure if that is normal behavior

I also have a FR10 - great active speaker, but as most products from Fender - overpriced.
@DCFGuitar
@DCFGuitar 2 ай бұрын
I don’t really agree it’s overpriced. This market has many (IMO inferior) options priced far above this price point that not only don’t sound as good, but don’t offer the level of options you get with the FR10. Of course I’d love everything to be cheaper, but you’re talking about a product developed alongside a $1,700 product (Fender tone master Pro). I think it is a great value

Hello! I just exchanged my Kemper stage for a Quad Cortex. I was very satisfied with Kemper, but I wanted to try the Quad Cortex to get to know it. The sound is just as good. I’m learning how to use the secrets and I say that, in a short time, I already liked it. Now it’s time to go on the road and see how she does.

Do you feel this is pretty accurate compared to an FOH system? Would you trust this to create your presets or would the FR12 be more accurate? That's my dilemma... Thanks for a great demo!
@DCFGuitar
@DCFGuitar 3 ай бұрын
There will always be lots of variables when making patches that sound good for FOH, But to my ears these FR speakers are very transparent in that they seem to match what I’m hearing on my studio monitors. It’s a toss up for me between the 10 and 12”

Nice vid! I’ve got the FR12, and sometimes find it to get a little boomy, but a small tweak to the bass control, or a bit of high pass on the Kemper seems to smooth that out.
