My Quad Cortex BROKE and left me STRANDED at a Gig!

I had a similar issue. I purchased mine from Sweetwater. After explaining the situation to their tech support, they drop-shipped a new unit and just had me send the defective unit back in the replacement's box. No waiting weeks for a new unit.

Oh man. Good to hear about the support. I have an HX Stomp with me as backup. Very small, so not a big deal bringing it all the time on gigs.

Neural was great with me too. And mine was bought used. I bought a new one just as a back up. I guess nothing is a definite even amps. Right now one of my amps is crackling and trust me you wouldn’t think this amp should have so many issues. I won’t name the brand. Anyway, glad you got it fixed. It feels really close to an amp and sounds great too. I may have written you before. I’m a pedal addict and tbh I don’t even need them for the quad. There is another modeler but I’m not sure if it’s loud enough. Yamaha double or single HD100 it’s overlooked. $800 new with power. You can pick what sound tube etc. A or A/B it feels and sounds great. I grabbed the double one. Two Marshall sounds going at once or clean, ss, crunch, high gain and modern which u can switch with footswitch. Boost and reverb and a few pedals in the footswitch. Good luck!!!

Mine just did this after owning it for only 8 days. I'm sending it back from Australia so I hope not to be without it too long. A lot of people in Australia all have had the same issues so I think it's a whole batch that went out

One rebooted mid set once. Gone back to proper pedals. A g3 GIGRIG and valve amps now. Sounds better too

My QC did the same thing but after the latest update it cured it. I have had some other little bugs, but I still have a Kemper and use it most of the time and only use the QC of fly dates. Im always worried its going to crap on me.

When my QC was at NDSP for support, I waited 8 weeks to get a unit again (and I live within the EU, so not far from them). I've had a lot of different equipment in my life and with all of them combined I haven't had nearly as many problems and stresses as with the QC.

That’s unfortunate. I shipped mine out on July 26 I believe and just got a UPS email saying it’s scheduled to be delivered Aug 10. Pretty good turnaround for me being in Canada…

MInes just broke as well mate, totally packed in. It’s a real pain. The Neural staff have been amazing though with trying to sort out my issue. But I could really have done without the hassle though.

I did receive it and it seems to be working well so far. Total down time was just over 2 weeks from shipping to when I got it back. NDSP support was great

Idid same man sold all my pedals to switch to quad cortex and love it so powerful ilike to use it in stomp mode pluged in front of amp on clean channel just saves me on weight and size

One question that remains is: Is the equipment reliable to keep in our gigs? or will QC let us down again? unfortunately I intend to exchange it for a Fractal!

Hey Victor! NDSP has not given a definitive cause but from reading on the forums, it sounds like either the whole main board or part of the board is defective. I definitely echo your sentiment on whether we can trust the unit! Enjoy the Fractal, they are awesome!

I had problems with the QC right at my first gig, so I ended up having to play the gig with a borrowed Helix. The support afterwards was an absolute disaster (took forever and I was lied to several times quite brazenly). Since then, the QC stays at home and I actually play live with XTone+iPhone or an old Line6 POD HD500. As soon as something comparable in the form factor comes along, the QC disappears from my equipment list.

Why guitarist don't backup their backs with something like Gig Performer with presets prepared before something happened ? it is obvious that electronics can be unreliable

I am a bit torn between purchasing a helix floor or the Quad Cortex. I need the XLR mic input as I sing as well. I want to buy the Quad Cortex for the size and convinence but the helix is said to be so much more reliable. What would you suggest?

I’ve had problems with both but I much prefer the UI and sound quality of the Quad Cortex. For my personal use, I couldn’t get that WOW factor with the Helix that I can with the QC.

Sorry man, 1500quid is alot. Thats one of the reasons I didnt get one. Beyond the lackluster debut, the QC to me looked so good I cringed to think what would happen if it broke. Yeah, I went with a Boss GT1000

For me and possibly you, a GT1000 paired with a Tonex pedal would do you well. The GT1000 for backup, but put all your performance patches on the Tonex and use that interchangably.

Even a Katana Artist and a Tonex pedal would do you even better. Tonex into the Katana, and if you need a backup, the Katana has almost everything a GT1000 has besides some amp models.
