Im not seeing the adapter for mirrorless cameras to use ef lenses. Do you use this? Struggling to uograde from my 5dmkiv
@rachelcapil2 ай бұрын
I would suggest, if you can afford it to NOT use the adapter. I have it because I have 4 lenses I don't want to upgrade because I don't use them much and I have tried the adapter with my fisheye and it was a bit weird and did not function great for me. I have the R6M2 and 24-70 and 70-200 RF lenses that fit on it and they work great. In my events I can't afford for it to fail at an impactful moment and lose the shot. I know it's expensive but you can pay it off and I teach you in my PhotoBiz Academy how to! :)

Agree on good gear and not a Canon Rebel. But prob don’t need to go Canon R3 or R1 either. Canon R5 is perfect like you said. Lenses are just as important if not more so. It’s a business at the end of the day and you have to make money.

Amen! Totally agree! I only say r5 so you can cut to the chase - you should be able to use that camera for the next 10 years after... but lenses are super important too! Hi, I am being asked to shoot a local outdoor festival of 2 days. Can you give some business advice about pricing and how to deliver the foto’s.? Shall i ask an hourly rate plus a gear hire fee. And may I sell the licensed images to someone else, like the bandmembers and/or visitors, and get some additional profit?

I shoot corporate events, large family sessions, along with weddings. I’m located a bit east of Sacramento and love this type of photography. I shoot dual Nikon d850’s with 24-70 with an 85, or 24-70 with a 70-200. If the light is low and weak I’ll go with 35 f1.8 and 85 f1.8. I use GODOX V1 flashes and never had an issue with them.

I usually shoot with a RF 70-200 f2.8 on my main body, and either a EF 24-70 2.8 or RF 35mm 1.8 on my 2nd body just for the group photos. Otherwise you can cover most situations with the 70-200. I also have a 16mm in my bag if I need to do something wider than 24.. pretty rare though.
@rachelcapil9 ай бұрын
Yes I love the 70-200 to be incognito at events and for the far-away shots. 24-70 is my workhorse for those grip and grin shots and on the fly shots. :)

Sometimes you have to ask. I shoot a lot of swim meets. Some parents want photos but I think feel a little timid asking for photos. Sometimes I’ll ask parents if they want photos of their kids at the swim meet at they’ll enthusiastically say yes.
@rachelcapilАй бұрын
@@boostedmaniac YES! If you don't ask you don't receive! Set up a gallery and send them the gallery if they want to buy they can! Photography does not have to be a full time gig it can be a part time one but it really all starts with your mindset. :) Happy to help just reach out! PS. I swam at UCSB and competitively for 6+ years!

@@rachelcapil very nice! I’m also in the Bay Area too. Yes photography is sort of my part time gig. Since all my kids swim, I took it as an opportunity to learn sports photography. I’ve been shooting swimming consistently for 3 years at every meet, having shot landscapes mostly before. I wouldn’t mind shooting a little more and I should really look into turning it into a part time business. I’ve noticed in some situations having that business title helps as some meets I’ve gone to won’t allow me access unless I’m a commercial photographer.
@rachelcapilАй бұрын
@@boostedmaniac Exactly! Where in the Bay Area are you? SO fun! I was just looking at a fellow photographer in the area and listening to a review he gave on the new cannon cameras coming out that he used to shoot at the recent olympics. You should check him out: blog.jefOfcable.com/ - he has some awesome sports shots if that is what you want to do. You can totally make it a PT biz and use your company name as way to get in and get more access!! Plus people treat you differently when you are a PRO! ;). It's all a mindset!

I love my r5! Can't wait to get the r5ii. My event lens is the 28-70. F2 is twice the light of 2.8 so it's so good for low light. I'm waiting for my 10-20 to arrive. In the meantime I use the 16 2.8 or the 24 1.8.

It depends on the situation. For example, if I'm traveling and bringing limited gear, I might bring just two lenses: a 35-150mm f/2-2.8 and an 85mm f/1.4. The 35-150mm is _very_ versatile, and the 85mm gives me extra bokeh and light when I need it. My first photography job was a housewarming party, and there I found dual wielding cameras with 24mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/1.2 primes worked well (nice background separation when I wanted it given relatively little space). When I shoot a wedding, it's an all hands on deck situation! My 35-150mm f/2-2.8 is my general purpose backup lens, the 70-200 mm f/2.8 is for the ceremony, multiple primes for the dancing in a dimly lit room, the 50mm f/1.2 for the first look, etc.
