Kerosene will work in any oil lamp. It will burn faster. It will have more smell. It will produce more soot. Simple as that. I have been running on road diesel in my outdoor oil lamps. About 2 years now. No issues. It soots more. It burns about the same speed as Kerosene. Kerosene is 11 bucks a gallon. Diesel is 3.25. It gets it done. You can add oils to the fuel the make a more pleasant smell. Inside your home or cabin parifin is a better option, Kerosene will work. Trimming your wick correctly will make a huge difference. More light. Less funes. Lower consumption

I built mine that way when you posted it before. I had 3/4 Schedule 40 on hand i bought some oak wooden dowel to fit inside cut to 1 inch guled to flush to end. Then glued cap on put 4 inch peice 1/2 inch reed bar 4 oz water used the pool noodles from lowes that fit tite. Ever thing is same as you.the reason for the wooden dowel is when reed bar slaps bottom it doesn't loosen the eye bolt.i drilled a small starter hole for eye bolt and put Gorilla glue on threads. Mine have 12 to 18 ft of 60 lb andy leader line a 1/0 barrel 3/4 egg sinker tied above it with 16 to 24 in of andy leader and L198 eagle claw 5/0 circle hook. Nicely done! This is the kind of stuff that we used to do in Boy Scouts, back in the 60s, when I was a teenager. The Scout Masters were all WWII vets and knew how to do just about everything with resources available. Your instincts are good, comprehension is good, adapt, improvise and overcome!

the difference is the size of the pvc pipe, many people use 1/2 inch pvc because they are much lighter...they stand up with the 1/2 inch the 3/4 inch pvc pipe won't... with that said i love the alteration of putting some water in it...makes sense!

The problem with pop rivets is they can leave a sharp edge on the back side once the nail pops out. How would you fix that? What other types of rivets would you use?
