Will matter mod podge work for golden leaf?
@Happyspacediys12 күн бұрын
Yes, that will work fine 😊 The finish isn't much of a concern regarding getting the gold leaf to stick. It's more the type of glue. The only time finish matters is when you are applying it as a sealer/ top coat. And then it's just personal preference 😊

Hi. I have a Krylon prime and paint spray for exterior and interior. It’s not a chalk paint. Do you think that golden foil will adhere to this paint?
@Happyspacediys12 күн бұрын
Hi there! Great question! The Krylon spray paint should be perfectly fine as a base for your gold foil. However, make sure the spray paint has fully dried. If it's still "sticky dry" the foil will be more difficult to work with. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 😊

What is paint wash?
@HappyspacediysАй бұрын
Great question! It's a mixture of paint and water. The ratios can differ, affecting the pigment of the wash. You apply it to dried paint, sanded wood, or other surfaces. And as you start to wipe it back, it leaves a light layer of color. It's fun to play around with! You can also use a few different washes to ad depth and interest. Thanks for your question! Hope this helps!

Ombre tutorial? 😊
@HappyspacediysАй бұрын
I'd love to do an updated ombre tutorial! I'm currently in the process of healing a back injury and getting ready to move. There are a few older ones on the channel. A blue chest of drawers and a light pink vanity. You can see the blend better on the blue piece. Unfortunately, the pink one doesn't show up well because I'm blending it with white.

Not sure why anyone would do this. A coffee table is NOT structurally strong enough to be an ottoman. Unless you're just going to use it for looks, this is totally impractical.
@HappyspacediysАй бұрын
I hope this information finds you in a better head space. 1st, If you were to look up blue prints for building a coffee table and an ottoman, there are a lot of similarities. Also, to your point, some ottomans are structurally unimpressive, just as coffee tables can be. To avoid acquiring such flimsy furniture, I use my experience and knowledge to inspect how the table is crafted. Thankfully, this one is all real wood, has a center stretcher along with strong corner joints. 2nd, I wouldn't put up a video misinforming viewers. I make these videos to help viewers and I literally profit pennies, if that, for doing so. I'm honest when projects are difficult, I'm honest with prices, I have no sponsors, and if a project doesn't work, I'll scrap it. Lastly, I understand viewing a video through a negative perspective can lead to the desire to be... well... negative and further your burning need to prove a point. However, might I suggest a bit of research prior to a comment like this. I mean, if you think you're right, you should back it up with the correct knowledge. I'll go ahead and like and give you a heart because I do appreciate your comment. It allowed me to explain to my viewers and you some valuable information. And who doesn't like to learn something new every day? Therefore, random internet person, fear not! Your time and comment were not in vain. I hope you are having a better day, and thank you for watching my free video!

Wonderful tutorial. What was the base coat (paint) and what did you use for the top coat?
@HappyspacediysАй бұрын
Thank you for watching! 😊 The base paint is a Berh Chalk Paint, and the top coat is a Satin based polyurethane. I've used gold leaf on lots of varieties of paint bases, and they all seem to hold up great. You can use polyurethane or clear furniture wax as a top coat. I haven't had my gold leaf dull when using those products.

How do you make sure the gold leaf doesn’t flake off after applied on drawers, particularly the interior?

Sorry if someone already asked but did you sand the jewelry box before applying primer?
@Happyspacediys3 ай бұрын
Hi Emily! For this one, I did not sand the jewelry box. I did wait a day for the primer to adhere, which helps when continuing on with paint. You are correct about the process though! I usually sand, clean, prime and paint. 😊 Thanks for the question and watching! ❤️

Why do I not see all the other metal leaf colors use on furniture?
@Happyspacediys4 ай бұрын
My guess, gold leaf is the more popular choice. There are some that use silver and other colors. Gold leafing has a history in art and decor and has been elevated in that sense too. For me, it's what I bought to match the colors I have for projects. It would be fun to try other colors out 😊

Why do you mist with water each time you apply a coat? I’ve never seen this technique.
@Happyspacediys5 ай бұрын
Hi there! It's pretty common to do if you are using a paint brush and not a sprayer. The misting of water helps move the paint around, uses less paint and promotes an even finish. Hope this helps! 😊

I bought modpodge gloss- lustre- lustre will this work with my stencil .thank you .trying this first time
@Happyspacediys5 ай бұрын
Hi there, If it's the spray lustre, I'm not 100% sure how that would work for applying the gold leaf. Sealing it with a spray mod podge is what I've tried in the past and can confirm it works. I'd test a small area out with the product and see how it works. In theory, it should. Spray, wait for it to get tacky and then lay the gold leaf on. Hope this helps!
@user-cq2jk8hv2p5 ай бұрын
@Happyspacediys no its the glue madge podge I bought from amazon. I came across few of your videos ,so taught id try it for myself .never done any thing like this before so first time . Thank you for your reply .do I put the modge podge threw the stencil lightly n leave it for a while ?? And then put the gold leaf on top of it .??
@Happyspacediys5 ай бұрын
@@user-cq2jk8hv2p oh ok! So if it's the glue, then yes you're right on track! You can hold or tape your stencil in place, apply the mod podge, (it can dry pretty fast depending on how much you put on) wait for the tacky texture and then you can apply the gold leaf. If it's a big stencil I'd use a foam wedge or circle to get the mod podge on quick and even. Smaller stencils, a brush should work just fine. Any touch ups, you can put the stencil back over and fill in the blanks. The gold leaf will blend and it'll look great! I hope this helps! Have fun with it 😁 Thank you for watching my videos ❤ Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm here to help!
