@@Kawaiicandy504as an American, I will say being American plays into it. Japan is very strict with their formal and informal language. American English compared to other English speaking countries has a lot of slang and informal language. We Americans just don’t put in as much effort in language than other countries/languages do. While American English isn’t the worst sounding as someone ages, it isn’t the best either.

you seem like a wonderful person, there’s no need to worry. for the majority of your life you’re “old” which means you really aren’t that old. 40 is considered kinda old, but for the people towards the end they were that age 60 years ago and are still kicking on strong (: no worries man. you have a wonderful, peaceful life ahead of you.

Amazing people and culture!! They are so polite!! I'm from Malaysia and we, as part of the Rotary Club was hosting some young Japanese traveller. I recall his name was Takeuchi. We all had dinner at a restaurant when unfortunately the subject of WWII inadvertently came up. Our guest Takeuchi-san stood up, bowed his head and with sadness and remorse apologized to us for Japanese atrocities in Malaya and the world during WWII. We were so surprised and taken aback. There was stunned silence... Then he sat down and we all smiled and continued our dinner in a happy but respectful mood. Takeuchi-san, wherever you are, all the best.

Crazy to believe the last Japanese were WWII age like my great grandma. She almost made it this long, happy to see her peers are still hanging on for a bit (crazy to think that realistically, her mother's generation only just died off with Kane Tanaka -- if we're to say its the generation born around 1900). I still have these elegant chopsticks that were never opened that the Japanese gave my g-grandfather during the war, along with some other stuff (not really sure what his role was that was so friendly in a time like that -- I just know he was a psychiatrist), I hope no one has misplaced them during my last move
