I feel bad for the lady who didn't accept being called "beautiful." It's safe to assume she isn't used to receiving kindness in such a genuine way; very likely she's been hurt by others to a point where she either doesn't think she's deserving of it or assume she's being tricked again or both. Unfortunately, a lot of people come from similar backgrounds. Despite that, it's always worth the effort to believe beauty in others even if they don't accept it in the moment. We don't know how her story ends, but we can believe she'll carry those words throughout her life, "I think you're beautiful." And the truth is, she's right.

I study human behavior and you can tell when she stutters "Of what?" she hides her face, suppresses a smile, and goes right into "tough badass mode" to deflect it. Even as she threatens the photographer, you can see her face lacks true aggression/there's just that look in her eyes that shows a suppression of longing/positive emotion (which everyone before her expresses easily). "Clearly you're being goofy" to me is her way of expressing disbelief that this was a genuine compliment. In my opinion, this is someone who has likely never been genuinely called "beautiful" before, and if she has it's usually been from people who have just wanted one thing out of her. Even at the very end of the exchange you can see her kind of linger for more reinforcement that, no, this isn't a joke.

Yes, she looks down and to the side, as to escape from the moment, my guess is she`s a person who has her emotions very tightly wrapped, or another way to say it, she has very high and strong walls to keep most out. because for some of us who never hear it when we finally do it actually feels like a trick or manipulation tactic. It literally goes against the reality you have lived. it's a short circuit in the brain feeling. That's why aggression or mistrust is easy to show. I am the same way. Or lastly it's not actually toward the person themselves but a quick outburst of why did my life have to grow up in a situation so different to what i am experiencing right this moment, i feel cheated and thanks for reminding me of that douche lol. A few reasons why a negative reaction spring up over a compliment. Likewise the opposite is true and we call that being spoiled or entitled. Some people that all they ever experience is constant validation or special treatment or whatever just for existing and that becomes their reality and their expectations. When they cross people that don't fit that mold they become angry because how dare this person say no to me everyone else jumps at my feet. Think of it that way. There is too much validation and attention which makes people spoiled then there is not enough attention which makes people feel worthless and like they are being used for something when it does happen because you think why is it happening right now but never before. Most people lie somewhere in the middle of not being treated special all the time but still experience goodness towards them enough to feel like it is meant towards them.

Well it's an experiment. She must have sensed it. Sometimes you can really tell if a compliment is genuine or not. Sometimes it's best to give compliments to someone for what he/she's wearing or something good that she's done. That way people won't have to feel insecure about themselves, rather, they'll focus on the things they can do to make their life better and the people around them better. They could take pride in those things no matter what happens to their appearance.

The wide range of reactions there is is incredible. I believe that each one reflects the life of the person individually and socially.

Same here… 😢 It took my attention so much. Agressive reaction for words ,,you’re beautiful”, beause of taking it as a joke instantly - so heartbreaking, esp though the girl making this video was so nice and genuine saying it and later, explaining. The filmed girl had to had so much of anxiety, inside, trying to cover it up this way. So sad :( But a lot of people would react this way I think, having such low self confidence and such a bad picture of themselves that they would automatically think someone wants to make fun of them. I was there, when hearing someone laughing (on the street or wherever) the instant reaction im my head was that they laugh at me and the way I look. I wish to all people like this to find their beauty and peace in mind, so we don’t have to keep our true self behind the mask in fear of what people can say or think. ❤

So she doesn't believe that she's beautiful herself, and she doesn't believe anybody would find her beautiful. Which is so incorrect because she is really beautiful. Insecurity is like out to get us.

People may come off as rude, but I think it’s because they deal with even more things than some people and they want to play it cool and try to fit it. Be nice to people, even if they hurt you. You don’t necessarily have to be friends with them but just give them a smile, or hold the door for them, or even just a hug. Anything can make someone’s day, trust meh😏

@@jacksquat2067 confidence is very attractive. Work on yourself, be somebody worthy of attention on any domain you love and watch how people get drawn to you. Even the most handsome of people, lose their looks as they age. Looks are thus superficial, character isn't.

@@ineffable.amethyst preferences and aesthetics are two different things. Human aesthetics are based on mathematics, symmetry and evolutionary preferences. They are thus VERY objective. Show me a woman that finds Quasimodo more handsome than Brat Pitt and I'll show you an exception and some sort of psychological pathology. You are thus, wrong! The ancient Greeks depicted aesthetics through their sculptures. The very same aesthetics are still followed. That's because they are objective, universal and species-specific.
