Thank you very much for this post! Sorry, I am late to the party!!! But, you did exactly what I would like to see out of other KZbinrs!!! You did an "in real time" showing how your lenses work. One thing that really irks me about KZbinrs, is they will show how to do something from another camera instead of placing it on the camera that they are using, then expecting us to just believe that what they are showing will or won't work based on their say so. I like seeing this in real time because I know for a fact that you haven't made any alterations to your set up, other than what you are talking about!!! Excellent vlog! I have subscribed and liked and you didn't even ask for it in your review!!!

Very good educational video. I just bought one from value village Alberta Canada. It cost 13 Canadian dollars. Best video I have watched on this subject .

I looked everywhere for the lens called, "The First One", and couldn't find it anywhere. Then I searched for "The Second One", and couldn't find a manufacturer or any lens by those names either. So glad you changed the names to "The More Expensive Lens", and "The Cheaper Lens" So I could look these up. Update: I'm now looking for a lens called, "The Bigger One" and "The Smaller One" - wish me luck!
@hiphopsuperman4 жыл бұрын
These are off brand lenses, made in China by many different manufacturers. Check out the links I included in the description of the video. Browse eBay until you see one that look like “the first one” and “the second one”. This video was made 8 years ago and the sellers I purchased from are long ago out of business. Good luck!
@GuyFoxxx12 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. They screw in into the lens' filter thread. just get the same size as your filters. If you don't know the size, you should be able to find it on the back of the lens cap (for example, 52mm, 72mm, etc).
@GoldenPidgeon10 жыл бұрын
The 1st is slightly wider but you'd have to crop to remove the vignetting so it'd probably end up a smaller framed image in post. You can really see the chromatic aberration around the edge of the tv - dang! I wanted to get the 2nd 1 due to the lack of the vignetting. Do you have any other vids reviewing these (or other) 0.45x lenses, and any in 720 or 1080p ?
@MaximumMadnessStixon11 жыл бұрын
I just ordered the cheaper kit (Wide, Macro, Telephoto lens adapter kit) for like $40, and from this video, it seems to be worth the price. Money is tight, and I don't have hundreds (even thousands) of dollars for buying individual lenses. Thanks for this review, it helped me out in making a decision.

when you installed the converter, were you setting your lens focal length on 18mm or 55mm?
@hiphopsuperman4 жыл бұрын
18mm. Sorry for the late reply, but hopefully this can help someone else!

Another thing to take into consideration is to be sure to remove the filter or lens protector even though they have threads on them that little space add will help reduce the vinager thingy.

I have a question, what does 58mm 0.45x means? some have 0.75x and some even 0.8x..? i know 58mm is the size of diameter of screw/ mount at need to attach to the main lens. Thank you in advance..
@hiphopsuperman8 жыл бұрын
The 0.45x, 0.75x and 0.8x are to advise how much these adapters change the lens onto which they are attached. Multiply your lens focal length by these numbers to show how they will affect your lens. In my video, I used an 18mm lens, multiply by 0.45 makes it an 8.1mm lens. (0.75x would be 13.5mm and 0.8x would be 14.4mm)

You're totally right about the chromatic aberrations on the second adapter. They're perfectly visible in the border of the picture on the wall WOW!
@LastNinjaBB611 жыл бұрын
Great short review! A few questions though: 1.) How much do these weigh? (all my lenses have plastic frames, and even worse the thread for these attachments & filters are quite thin) 2.) When taking photos with these adapters you say its soft - How soft? Sharp enough for 2MP photos? 3MP? 8MP? 3.) How does it work outdoor? I want to capture nature landscape - Would it be possible or is this lens prone to foggyness, dull colors, flares, etc? I can live with CA's

I have a quick question. I'm going to be filming a wildlife movie on my own. I won't be able to use my follow focus. Will a 0.45 wide angle lens give me focus? For instance, Devin Graham uses a wide angle lens in his shorts and the result is no need for a follow focus. His shots are always focused. Thanks!

***** I don't think it will work on a full frame. Adding this adaptor is like an 8mm lens, which I believe is too wide. Sorry!

+BadMouseProductions Regard these as toys that give you "interesting" results and you won't be disappointed. The results you get depend a great deal on the lens you attach them too. If you can't a ford a new good quality wide angle, consider an older used one. Make sure you get the right mount for your camera.

Can you use the macro lens alone when you separate it? I wanted to shoot garden bugs and I wanted to get a macro lens along with the wide angle lens, but if the wide angle lens's macro attachment could work as well, I think I won't need getting a macro. I'm not sure. I hope you could help with this. :(

Hi, Appreciate Your work. I bought similar lens with exact characteristics, but I'm not satisfied with the effect. Thinking of using it both in my Canon 450D and JVC video camera, I chose 58mm. On video camera I mounted two rings to fit 58mm lens. I feel like I've gained a centimeter difference between normal and wide if You know what I mean. In Your case the difference is huge. Any idea why it happens to me ? :(

Well thank you for your review, it's very helpful. They both cause certain disortion of perspective, lower quality of the focus somehow and let noticeably less light in. But having a crop factor 1.6 makes me want to get this for the interior shots for simple reason, i can push myself beyond the rear wall just to get what I need into the viewfinder ;-) The vignetting can be cropped out and certain decrease in quality and clarity is tolerable as far as i GET all important into compositions. Thanks for sharing your experience. Make more videos, you're good at it and neat to listen to.
