I have actually done my share of house-sitting with pets. It just came easy for me when I was living in a rural area outside of Portland where I had a lot of family and friends. since I was raised around farms and everyone, I knew pretty much had cats and dogs or horses those were the animals I took care of. I think grooming horses for example is so soothing. Feeding flocks of free-range chickens also fun, because they actually talk to each other and "pecking order" is REAL! For some reason dogs and cats just like me. Maybe someday I will do it for the location like Lisa... She is a cool lady I can tell. Thanks for highlighting this story. Great interview!

@@AlmostRetiredinMexico West side of Bald Peak, in Washington county also later lived in Portland, Mt. Tabor... 5 years Oregon City ... I've been all over Oregon haha... I spent a lot of time in Eugene during the past 15 years. the Beach and Bend are also places I have spent a significant amount of time. I took some geology in college, and it gave me curiosity for the terrain in our state of Oregon.

This is much more relevant to me than the TiAjuana video 😂. We live full-time here in Mexico and don't need a house sitter now. But our kids are getting closer to heading off to college and we want to travel. One thought is to build a casita for a caretaker but maybe we look into something like this instead.

It's nice the same caretaker every year, but if you have a regular vacation where you're away from your home, you could get the same house sitter each year. Thanks for watching! Hopefully no mispronunciations in this one!

I've lived in Mexico for more than two years. Even if you housesit, I find it imossible to think you can live on $350.00. I pay more than that for my monthly groceries/supplies, about that again for going out to eat for the months, plus monthly Uber charges, mobile phone, monthly allotment off vitamins, supplements, etc. Why give people false hopes?? Attention -grabbing title for clicks??

WOW. The house and pet sitting (especially pet) is the reason we have not been down there yet to check on houses to buy. We will NOT use a kennel , too many horror stories. GRrrr8 to know. Now we need to find someone like Lisa for short term that could handle living on 4.75 acres on the water, a protected harbour app 16 km from the Atlantic Ocean. But that's my problem not yours. Some house sitters are paid. And as Lisa mentioned, she might get other perks like a driver or trip to Costco to stock up. But the bigger perk is staying in a house that would Airbnb for $2000+ a month.
