0 STARS in CRASH TEST for Renault DUSTER Made in LATIN AMERICA | Renault Contests This Result

The 2022-2023 Renault Duster, produced in Latin America and Romania, with double airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard, achieved zero stars under Latin NCAP’s latest crash test protocol.
The popular SUV achieved 29.47% in Adult Occupant box, 22.93% in Child Occupant box, 50.79% in Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Road Users box and 34.88% in Safety Assist box.
The New Duster for Latin America does not offer side body and side head protection airbags as standard like the model sold in Europe under Dacia brand. In the frontal impact the model showed unstable structure performance and a fuel leakage. Side impact test showed high intrusion of the B-pillar and an open door during the test. Door opening in Latin NCAP side impact test, which has same configuration as Regulation UN95, means that the car would have failed the UN95 test. The fuel leak recorded in the frontal crash test needs further action from Renault, not just to solve the problem in production but to recall all the units sold in the market that potentially have this problem in the fuel tank in a crash. In the same line the door opening in the side impact requires immediate action by Renault as it poses a serious risks of ejection in the case of side impacts.

This is weird because my friend had this car and two weeks ago, he had a terrible accident in which the car made a complete roll over. He had his wife and 3 little children with him in the car during the accident. They all got out safe and sound without a scratch.

Don't take it personal, it is a good vehicle. If you don't ask too much of it you will be surprised by the returns. Of course it will score low on tests, everybody wants you to pay more for pretty much the same features. Same bs with euroncap. The actual users are happy with it - no more no less safer than any other decent car in 99% of cases. It is a romanian concept, it is almost genetically designed to allow a little bit of slack in quality and still make a safe and decent ride under most conditions so even if it's not made in the original Dacia factory in Romania it is hard to completely miss by poor assembly job. I would not worry to much if different other factories does not assemble it perfectly. Anybody who had any model of duster say it's ok if don't push it over its limits.

The car in the video is RENAULT DUSTER made in South America, only for their market, which wants to be very cheap. On the European market is sold DACIA DUSTER which has 6 airbags and reinforcements much more resistant, and with higher quality materials.

Like 10 or 20 years ago all these "0 star rated" cars would have gotten like 3-5 stars. You cannot take these crashtests serious anymore. Back then a car would get 0 stars if the cabin collapsed on a frontal impact. All these cars perform good, they just dontrhave 20 different safety features or 100 airbags, thats what costs them stars. The regulations of each country/economic block are the ones that impose a minimum safety levels for the cars, especially cheap ones. Safety is usually a selling point for cars so more expensive ones will inherently be safer, but also provide a bigger profit margin compared to a cheaper one.

I though for renault duster to be exacly same like dacia duster but back then i though renault would look better than old dacia logo on it. But new dacia logo lookgs great . We have Dacia duster 2021 when it had newer facelift back then but we didnt wanted wait so long for new car so we bought this one and its great car but i see now this renault with what i even heard is so terrible in quality again dacia duster. Anyway in 2 years we will change our duster for new oen with should come next year or so 3rd generation with sound great.

Although, there is no universal or continental baseline countries can still enforce an arbitrary baseline. Tesla Cybertruck for example, won't be available to the European market because the front end is not adequate in case pedestrians are hit. Every country has safety requirements yellow tail lights, seatbelts, etc ... all are more or less tied to the artifacts reviewed during the safety rating process.

@@BatfinksWingsthe article is about how essential safety equipment is left out of cars for those markets. It's nothing to do with the make although the Dacia version got 3 or 4 stars when it was tested. Can't recall which.

@@rod-bits-and-pieces New Sandero Strpway only got 2* in Euro Ncap IIRC. Dacia/Renault need to sort out their safety profile. Not acceptable these days.
