Thanks bro! Im getting the same code on my Pontiac. I naturally assumed it was the sensor. I never thought it could be the connector also.

Thanks for the video def very helpful :) just a question what tool did you use to unscrew the sensor just wanted to make sure. How did you reattach the wires to the connector do you solder it back in? I'm new at it. Thanks
@cedmac33666 жыл бұрын
RenegaderDTA I used a 3/4 wrech to remove the sensor. I spliced the wires and twisted them back together per the color. No solder needed, jus some black electrical tape.

Hey, quick question, does this issue make Your cooling fans come on all the time even at cold engine and just ignition on? My code is P0117 I believe same but low voltage. 05 Impala 3.8. Please help. Thanks.

Your fans may not run at all if your temp sensor is bad or may continuously run if the fan relay is bad. I would replace the temp sensor and check your fan relays.
@cedmac33664 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly...my fans were running all the time like you mentioned...but jus to be safe, I would replace the temp sensor bcus your fans work from that
@phigo4kins4 жыл бұрын
@@cedmac3366 I replaced the Coolant Temp Sensor Already and it didn't fix the continuous running cooling fans. I would check the relays, but, I don't understand how the relay would be causing the fan to run steadily... ?? I have in the past tried to replace/switch around the Relays, But all to no avail...
@phigo4kins4 жыл бұрын
@@cedmac3366 So You're saying the continuous running fan is relay Fault related? And Bad Coolant temp Sensor Would cause Fan not to run at all? (I would think if the Temp Sensor is Bad, That's when the cooling fans Run continuously due to Fail Safe thinking that the engine is overheating...?)
@cedmac33664 жыл бұрын
I cant remember correctly if the fans were continuously running with the car on before I replaced the sensor. But yes that would cause them to run all the time with the car on if the sensor is bad.

Does this has anything to do with the air compressor kicking on and off.
@cedmac33665 жыл бұрын
No...but it will affect your cooling fans

@@cedmac3366 Interesting, did it affect Your cooling fans? If it did, How so? What will it do to Your cooling fans? Please help. Thanks.

Is this the sensor that reads the temperature on the cluster?

@Robert Slackware Thanks for the response, I work on cars during my spare time, so this is good info to retain.

@Robert Slackware Get an old Mercedes-Benz diesel, they're pretty cheap and last a long time. What state do you live in? In PA people do not pay emissions.

@Robert Slackware VW definitely got suckered. Hopefully there's good things to come in the future for diesel cars.

Actually this is the Temp sensor that reads the gauge to get the proper reading

How's it going ced, I have a 04 Buick lesabre and my fans high speed wont turn on I changed the temp sensor because I got that same code but still the wont turn on the low speed works when I have the cold air on and the high speed only works when I have the temp sensor disconnect not sure what it is, just thought I'll ask if you ever heard of that happening.
@cedmac33663 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the cooling fans or the heater blower fan?
@cedmac33663 жыл бұрын
The cooling fans that sit in front of the radiator will work when you have the AC on or the Front windshield defrost on. They also engage intermittently when the engine reaches a certain temp to allow the engine to cool.
@cedmac33663 жыл бұрын
As far as the speed of the cooling fans...I'm not sure...but they do work intermittently anytime the key is in the run position
@ecswashingtonllc59043 жыл бұрын
When the car gets to a certain temp the fans wont turn on the ac fans work but the coolant fans dont, I changed out the temp sensor still nothing but if I unplug the temp sensor the coolant fans cuts on but doesn't turn off but I know thats from it not being connected

No...there is no need to drain the coolant...just top it off after losing a little from replacing the sensor.

@cedmac33664 жыл бұрын
Clear your codes with an OBD2 code reader or disconnect the battery for 30mins
@skoutshowecker3824 жыл бұрын
That would mean sensor is reading high resistance is high voltage still a faulty sensor

When I used the new pigtail connector the sensor was good. Pigtail was faulty but not the sensor.

That reading very high should be 2.0
