Great video. I’m just doing the torque mounts but it’s nice to see someone call them what they are. Teach that child how to repair cars if she wants to learn. I learned from my dad and uncle and all three of my girls can do basic repairs and maintenance on their cars and small engines.

01 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. I had a real bad vibration under acceleration. My front mount was real bad. I replaced the front mount, got rid of 95 % of my vibration under acceleration. I still have a slight vibration under acceleration. Should I flip my dog bone bushings, or replace the transmission mount, or both? Some comments on other posts, said flipping the dog bone mounts bushings may add slightly to the vibration. I don't want any vibration.

Also what is a decent motor mount that won't break the bank I'm really not looking to spend $60.00 for a mount at the dealer. Everyone on the internet says the anchor and DEA mounts are junk. Will the anchor or DEA mounts be good enough. I am not a rod nut, I am pretty easy on my car.

Thanks for an excellent video on that mount Kristopher; My 2001 Regal needs that; I did it once but your vid is a great refresher. I used a wide piece of plywood on the trans pan last time, seemed to work ok, I was surprised to see how far I had to lift the engine. Next time I'm getting a SOLID mount, those oil filled mounts "give out and start to crumble" way too soon for as much as it takes to replace them... Yours is the best video on that mount that I've seen..Your little daughter is great helper. Many thanks. Cheers

Cute Kiddie! Per factory workshop manual (Alldata subscription) you need to disconnect the CAT / rear exhaust couplet, just 2 nuts/studs much like those crossover pipe closest to driver. I can tell you theres not much room under there, the UNION will jam to the floor plate. Just finished a timing cover gasket, motor mount & oil pan trifecta which includes having to remove the engine mount bracket to remove oil pan. I obviously had to use a crane to hoist engine but still would have if changing the mount, The oil pan bolts are torqued to 11 ft-lbs so hoisting engine by oil pan would be like 1000 ft lbs and crushed oil pan gasket.. If doing it that way I'd recommend using a 2x6 board on the jack so pressure is even around oil pan and put the layers of card board on that to buffer uneven surface. Also the oil pan strainer is only ~1/2 or less from bottom of pan, easy to break that or the internal tube. Oddly enough the manual says you can use a transmission mount under tranny to lift for changing tranny mount which is same as engine mount as far as attachment but physically a bit smaller, use a wide long piece of particle board with 2x6's or 2x4's & cardboard or towels so you spread out force over entire tranny. I have a large 5+ inch wide x 1.75 inch thick rubber adapter in my 3 ton jack saddle, great to keep the jack from gutting metal. Cute Kiddie!

Yes and no, I've never caused a leak or damaged a pan by doing it, and some older books say this is the standard. That being said, I don't wanna be responsible for anyone else causing damage.

PLEASE don’t jack on your oil pan with just cardboard, use a piece of 2x4 (wood) and spread the 2x4 across both oil pan and trans pan. Also don’t ref on your steel lines or you’ll be replacing them next.
