Beautiful cover, I came from your cover of "29 #Strafford APTS" and I'm so glad to see you're doing more Bon Iver stuff, really look forward to more. Regarding your comment in the description about having no idea what you're saying, but feeling it, I felt that exact same thing when I first started listening to Bon Iver. The thing is, his music is shrouded in metaphors and hidden meanings, that's what's intrigued me so much, that it's so hidden in mystery. This particular song is a little more obvious than some ("715 - CR∑∑KS", for example), it's mostly about his entire journey of life. Him trying to fit himself into a specific pose and point in his life, possibly for different groups or styles of music that were expected of him. Worrying about so many things but finally just going with the flow, "I worried bout rain, and I worried bout lightning. But I watched them off, to the light of the morning." It's also good to keep in mind that Vernon has a major in Religious Studies, so much of this album is riddled with religious metaphors and meanings, even symbols, though he's admitted he's not particularly religious he just finds it interesting. Which leads to things like "But them the main closest, hark! It gives meaning Mine". The entire song is basically him pouring his life into it, from what I get. From making sense of the paths he chooses and has been led down, to his studies and interest in religion, as well as a possibly self-destructive nature. Letting in memories that "harm" him. "If it's harmed, it's harmed me, it'll harm, I let it in." If you'd really like to dig into the meaning of Vernon's music, I'd definitely look him up on Genius lyrics and check the annotations. It's just people's interpretation in the end, but it helps give tons of insight into the potential meaning.
