Why do they not use solder in aircraft connections? As an automotive tech we always use solder for the most reliable connections. I’m sure their is a good reason, I’m just curious.

We do. I did it in the Army on Apaches all the time in low-heat areas. Sometimes it is our option whether to solder or crimp. Other times solder is require and other times crimping is required.

Some areas do, it can be decided based on vibration, environmental factors, ease of access, frequency of repair, etc.

Litterature suggests that while a soldered connection is strong, it makes the cable brittle. That's why only crimped connections are used on aircrafts.
