Eclectic is the new normal for me for the next year or so. My sign bank ( kzbin.info/door/Zy9xs6Tn9vWqN_5l0EEIZAvideos ) has reached the point where it contains most of the "common" signs. For a long time I was just adding signs to the sign bank but decided "Why not teach these signs to one of my assistants prior to creating individual sign clips for the sign bank?!" And thus was born the "Vocabulary Expansion Series." I wasn't sure if it would be "worth" doing -- but response has been positive -- so I'll keep it up to the extent that time and energy allow.

I've actually got an hour long video ready to upload (probably my longest single lesson in one sitting). It is in 4k resolution at 60 frames per second and thus is "huge" (around 62GB -- but KZbin will compress it for us). I'll be uploading it this weekend, maybe earlier. KZbin will take a while to fully process it but will likely have a lower resolution version available sooner. It is about "automotive repair signs" and features "Rach" as my assistant. We were near a window and as the clouds went by it kept changing the lighting -- but overall I think it still came out quite well and will be useful for learning. Riley the dog makes a cameo.

Version 2 of the WALMART sign touches a W to the chin and then an "M" to the chest. It is a real sign. Just because a sign is sarcastic in origin doesn't prevent it from spreading and being used as one of "the" signs for that concept. Also see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/moWxe5udbLV1hsU

Dr. Bill, my friend (she is DEAF) showed me to sign Target in front of the face ending the pointer on the nose (not on the hand.) What say you?

The "index finger circled to the nose" version of TARGET-[store] is a cool version of the sign -- and an obvious evolution toward de-initialization (the removing of English initials) of the older initialized version of the sign. I'll add that version to my (eventual) "TARGET-[store]" page at Lifeprint.com

I want to know how sign for Ross Drees store.

"Ross Dress For Less" store is typically signed by fingerspelling "ROSS." The only time you might need to sign "ROSS DRESS FOR LESS" is if it were the first time you were telling someone about the store and if there was no context. If you are driving by the store you might just sign "I WANT GO THERE." Your communication partner might not be sure exactly which store. At which point you would fingerspell ROSS. Your partner would then have no question regarding the exact store to which you want to go.
