The little jack plugs are in there so the shrounds on the end of the input jacks retain their round shape when stuffed into a box or bag etc. If they stay store long enough in a bad position they can be flattened making them difficult to insert into the meters input jacks.

Never thought of that! Makes sense, thanks!

No problem, I also wondered for the longest time what they were for, so I asked a techi friend of mine and found out.

I have the UT61D. Price for the UT61E was only about $5 more, and didn't find out till after I got mine.

Nice meter! I thought about buying it some time ago, but decided to buy the UT139C instead (one of the reasons was better input protection). 9:24 There are PTCs, but I didn't see any MOVs/spark gaps in place even though there are pads for them :( Otherwise it seems like a nice meter.

Wait can someone explain what he meant with the battery? Why not put it in if its heavy duty?

I like your review and teardown, and I was torn on buying this meter to get the 22,000 count display - but I ended up buying the 139C instead as it has better input protection and a backlight. I feel like a meter of this level should have a backlight and an MOV or two, maybe one large resistor, though I have seen some folks adding backlights of their own, and some neat ideas along those lines too. The 139C is less money and has better input protection. Of course the 61E does have the PC link and 22,000 count display so I guess its all in what features you want.

Viewed, liked, commented and shared. Nice, informative content as it is usual from you; the meter would be tempting, but, I already have 5 good DMMs. Thanks for the video.
