James Bond 007

Күн бұрын

This chase through a Hamburg garage in TOMORROW NEVER DIES (1997) is one of the most inventive in the 007 series. To create the effect of James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) driving his car via a touchpad on his cell phone, special effects supervisor Chris Corbould’s crew rebuilt four BMW 750iLs to be driven by hidden stunt driver Steve Griffin who crouched on the back floorboard using video monitors. Directed by Roger Spottiswoode.

Its almost as amazing as that it clearly have a black and white screen when first open, but 10 minutes later it have a full color HD screen. Have you considered that he might be using BT 1.0 with a transfer speed of 360kBit/second (you can stream 240p15 video over 360kBit/s link... but.. well the mpeg-4 codec was not finished in 1997, i guess they are using an early draft. @@kshitijjain5456 I wouldn't say that Craig is expressionless, in fact he portrays emotions extraordinarily well (as his performances in Casino Royale and Skyfall prove), but he doesn't try to portray humour as much (he proved his funny side in Knives Out though). Craig is a great actor, and much better suited to the current movies, but he definitely wouldn't fit in the Brosnan-era movies, which had far more humour in them. Craig is far more hard and gritty, with fewer jokes and one-liners.

@@kshitijjain5456 Daniel Craig was actually casted, because Barbara and the other guy realised they misused Brosnan's era and they had to find a better, grittier and sensible character to Bond films. Brosnan's Bond is just too fucking flossy, too cheesy and too playful. Craig is a way better actor. He just doesn't use very obvious expressions as Bond. Watch any clip with him and M, you'll notice a ton of emotions. But you'll not see it right away, need to look a bit first.

For me Brosnan is the perfect Bond, he has the charms, the wit, the steely looks, the aggression, the whole package. Or it's because his movies were closer to my young age. Nevertheless after countless re-watches of the whole saga, I still believe he's the best.
@T8-TR
@T8-TR 4 жыл бұрын
Craig is the best Bond according to the books, iirc, but Brosnan will always be my Bond because he's the more idealized, Kingsman-esque Bond. A secret agent who's both cool and competent, but all while still being flawed. And he's got some bitchin' one-liners, too. I'm curious to see who gets cast after Craig's done with Bond. It's a pipedream, since he's got so many projects in the works now, but I've wanted Henry Cavill as Bond ever since I saw the Man from UNCLE. He's a great actor, capable of getting totally invested in all his roles (not in the Jared Leto method acting way, but in a healthy "I'm a huge fan!" sorta way), and he (in UNCLE) ticks all my ideal Bond boxes: suave, witty, intimidating presence without outwardly projecting it, and the dude can clearly do action scenes.
@T8-TR

@@unlimitedayoproduction2452 Maybe it was past my time so it didn't have the hype or the nostalgia to back it up, but when I watched the older Bonds, they just seemed... idk, dated, I guess? None of them stuck out to me like Brosnan does, and Craig's movies have so much modern budget thrown at it that even at its worst, it's still a spectacle.

Cool scene and all, but if you think about it, Bond just nearly killed about a dozen innocent civilians, which should be expected on a busy street below, and whom he could not possibly predict to be able to get out of the way of the falling car, and debris and shards inside the office. Not to mention that the car will now be definitely impounded by police, who will discover various military-grade gadgets inside and link it to the shootout in the building it fell off from. And if they trace it back to MI6, that would cause a huge international incident. In summary, sloppy and unnecessarily reckless work - classic Bond. 8)

Pierce Brosnan is my nostalgia bond. He just absolutely owns every scene. To be honest his movies kind of stink, they feel like long TV commercials. But they take me right back to the 90s (childhood) when life was simple and things felt more pure and optimistic.

I was born in 1998 during the Brosnan era of Bond and Tomorrow Never Dies was my first Bond movie I've watched. I'm forever thankful my parents bought the VHS so I can watch it at home and subsequently purchased the DVD, then later on the 50th anniversary blu ray collection of James Bond. It's a very fun action movie, pierce Brosnan is a very solid James Bond actor. The car chase hooked me in and I just found it very intriguing how they predicted the future with a gadget that can control your car, sort of like a Portable PSP, extremely underrated gameboy console. BMW's aren't necessarily the most Bond-ian vehicles out there, but they're certainly very efficient in speed, handling and performance. The gadgets are very good. Very fun time.
