And the original script had him using the jets and a boat that was sinking after being hit with a round from that gun she used then tossed away earlier to jump over the bridge. But during rehearsal the guy who built the Q Boat accidentally pulled both levers and the boat had so much stopping power that it forced the nose into the water. And since the boat still had its momentum. The boat dove completely underwater as it kicked up a lot of water in front. Everyone on shore and in chase boats thought that he had crashed and destroyed the boat around him. Instead the boat shot up out of the water a few yards from where it went in.

If there's one thing that you can't argue with the Brosnan era, it has perfected the most ridiculous action sequences in any Bond series. The St. Peterburg tank chase (Goldeneye), This scene, The Ice land car chase (Die Another Day), The Motorcycle chase in Beijing (Tomorrow Never Dies)

Grant was planning retire then from acting before he did Charade in 1963 and few other movies before he retired from acting for good in 1966. Ian Fleming initially didn’t like Sean Connery at first but changed his mind after seeing Connery in Dr No and From Russia With Love and was impressed with Connery. I think it's magic they can stitch all those pieces of a city together and make it look seamless to everyone who doesn't know the locations. I particularly like the edit when he drives through the (added for film) boathouse and on to the street, and a red London bus in both shots makes it seem like the same location. The continuity makes no sense if you examine it but when it's moving it all works. The one that snaps me out of an otherwise perfect film is in Children of Men he drives up to Battersea Powerplant and then the interior is the Tate Modern. :-)

After Bourne series was becoming popular, the Craig era had taken its elements in making Bond more moping, humorless & serious in his character. The current ones seems to have forgotten about the dark & light British wits in the franchise the old James Bond series was known for. What I like about the world is not enough was the opening theme song, the Q gadgets experiments results, the 1st female antagonist and the cold kills he did in this

@ucruci This isn't unknown to any of us regarding Bourne of 2002. We've heard it over and over for 2 decades. The real question is, if taking a different approach would've allowed for the ability to modernize without losing the soul of the series? Bourne was a brief 2000s fad and nothing of it has continued into the 2010s and 20s. I find her running of the franchise questionable, considering most notable issues began when she took over in 1996 and later allowed her love affair with Craig to cloud judgment replacing him much sooner. This series is done at this point.

I loved Tomorrow Never Dies too bc it was the very first Bond film I was old enough to see in theaters with my dad. After I went back and watched all the old ones. But I was so excited for World is Not Enough as well and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s one of my favorites. This scene plus the score are great. I owned the ost on cd. The theme by garbage I loved too. All the bond films Pierce starred in minus Die Another Day had good songs. Goldeneye by Tina Turner, Tomorrow Never Dies by Sheryl Crow and this one by Garbage are phenomenal.

I was more outraged at how they go down an inlet in Bermondsey (that leads to a dead end) and then somehow magically come out in Wapping/Shadwell! Absolute liberty tbh
@Rapscallion20093 жыл бұрын
Not for a long time. It's very illegal to pump sewerage into rivers in the UK - has been for decades - at least 20-30 years before this was shot. Atmospheric wash out and highway run off is about the worst of it and there are seals and many species of fish living in it today.
@M1tjakaramazov3 жыл бұрын
@@Rapscallion2009 I was speaking semi-metaphorically. But also, the filtration practices of Thames Water have repeatedly been under scrutiny for gross inefficiency, and swimming even miles up-stream from the location of the scene has shown to cause gastro-intestinal symptoms. The seals mostly stick to the estuary or stay west of Putney.

Unpopular opinion: this was the best of the Brosnan series, even Goldeneye.
@anthonydpearson3 жыл бұрын
I still put goldeneye *slightly* ahead, since the ending is Goldeneye is stronger (the submarine ending in TWINE is only ok), but there’s not much between them. Regardless, this was easily Brosnans best performance.

I love that there is a real boat driving through a real restaurant, James Bond fixes his tie while boating underwater, and James Bond splashes the guys ticketing the car. Superior Bond movie making. Its so good that it makes you over look how unrealistic is is for the Q Boat to go through the streets and drive through a restaurant. Think about that, not 1 but 2 boats through restaurants.
