@Bradders1 it's abit hit and miss, I've learnt I gained more timing going to a 500cc which is obvious but I use ALOT more water meth.. I ran a 1000cc it was awesome but it would slip my clutch with no tuning 🤣. 250cc 50/50 is decent to around 500bhp imo. Depending on boost and nozzle location tbf

So the PCM automatically adds more advance to the ignition due to not sensing knock ? Great video btw 👍
@SparkplugsteveАй бұрын
It depends on the map has been setup. Some tuners choose not to add anymore ignition once they find the knock threshold while mapping. If this is done then no more ignition can be added. But if they have allowed for more ignition the ecu will advance timing with water methanol

Elllooooooo Steeeeve. Good install. I am keen to see how much water/meth pools in that lower part of the boost pipe. It squirts out a lot of liquid and I wonder just how much will settle on the pipe and collect.
@Sparkplugsteve3 жыл бұрын
Hopefully nothing pool's. 😱 It should all evaporate into the charge air provided I don't squirt too much.

@@Sparkplugsteve that's what she said. Good luck with it. I hope you get good consistency from it and no issues 👍.
@autoSRI3 жыл бұрын
The amount of hot air that’s passing through it will evaporate it pretty much instantly so you won’t get pooling
@coyote57353 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it be a better idea to have the injector firing with the flow of the air stream, it's not very efficient firing straight into the wall of the air tube? You need the nozzle injecting parallel to the airflow to give a more even distribution and atomisation.
@Sparkplugsteve3 жыл бұрын
Maybe yes but how do you do that? If the injector protruded into the pipe it would also cause massive flow disruption I would guess. If you watch aem video on KZbin they have a clear tube and you can see the flow doesn't blow at the edge if the pipe as the flow is just too fast. But yes there's probably a better way if doing it. I'm just not sure how.
@coyote57353 жыл бұрын
@@Sparkplugsteve You could do a compromise tilt the injector at an angle as shallow as possible or a fine tube bent at 90 degrees you could experiment positioning with or against the flow of air, I don't think it would interfere with the air flow volume. Ideally, it must be desirable to have a uniform distribution of water per volume of air, good mixing in other words. I'm sure you are more than capable of coming up with various designs, it's a shame I can't draw on here.
@Sparkplugsteve3 жыл бұрын
Watch the aem video and it's works just fine really. I'm not getting into changing it now. If it's not broke don't fix it. 😁
@coyote57353 жыл бұрын
@@Sparkplugsteve OK, best of luck.
@dannbaker3 жыл бұрын
I think that was the best way to do it, obviously want it on the cold side so the intercooler takes most of the heat out of the charged air and then the water/meth after to take a bit more heat out. After the sensor makes sense if it kills them, ideally you would have another temperature sensor after the water/meth so you can see the drop in temperature from after the intercooler to after the water/meth injection to get an idea of how well its working. Also as you did keeping it away from the throttle body allows it to mix with the air and get a better mixture into the cylinders.

It's been a steep learning curve but hopefully iv done the right thing.

@autoSRI3 жыл бұрын
Try it further from the iat sensor closer to the inter cooler you should have plenty of time for it to evaporate as your not spraying that much I run it on my bmw and it quite possible to see the intake temps below ambient temp on a 50/50 mix
