@Steven L'Hirondelle Fan is controlled by the fan header on motherboard. In that case temp. of CPU went down drastically, which sends signal to the motherboard that CPU temp is down so the fan can stop spinning like crazy. You would be amazed how much older CPUs can do without cooling. New CPU would break in half or wouldn't post at all.

@docferringer

@@moonwalk8836 yeah about that last part... lol Newer chips should only shut your system down if you are in some kind of overclock or are experiencing a hardware problem. A modern chip should not be shutting down when your temps get high--it is designed to throttle your clock speeds down until the on-die temperature monitoring says it's safe. The fans will sound like this the whole time that's happening though. I remember when AMD CPUs didn't have heat spreaders and yeah, red hot was a brief stop on the way to turning those 1s and 0s into a cloud of silicon shrapnel. They either burned out, catastrophically overheated, or the rapid temperature change on the die would cause it to crack and throw bits of silicon all over your system.

@@EthanH1 I deliver to a International and Freightliner supplier, and I can't now explain the amount of grease, dirt, dust, and whatever else is in that warehouse. I got the task of putting in the package details on their computer since it was different, and let me tell you, my hands were black afterwards. I asked if it had ever been cleaned, and it is a dell from 2006, and they said no. I wanted to see inside, so I opened it up, and there were dust bunnies clogging the fans. Lets just say, I'm never going to ask or open another suppliers computer.

The last time I properly used it was around 2018, and honestly it ran alright. It came with Vista but Windows 7 was released that same year, so had upgraded to 7 pretty soon after buying it.
