I love that this isn't about her being more "girly" or "boyish". She doenst transform into her old self in the end. She doesnt ditch the lipstick. She doesnt ditch the short hair. She doesnt choose ONE. That's the whole idea: that the labels of what's "you" are messed up. She's a product of everything that she went through, and the decisions she's made, not a one dimensional "idea" of what others want to categorise her as A+ 👏👏👏👏👌👌👌 Edit: the witch compliments her when she speaks her mind and tells her to shut up. When she embraces everything, instead of hiding parts of it. I love the final line, "That's more like you," because the girl was EXPRESSING it, instead of the witch assuming it based off of her appearance like everyone else did.

There's a word that was made by John Koenig for his book, _Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows_ , that is called, 『Lutalica。』 You tell the world who you are in a million different ways. Some are subtle, some are not. But it doesn't seem to matter: this world has already got you pegged. When you were born they put you in a little box, and slapped a label on it. So they could keep things organized, and not have to think about what's inside. Over time you learn to make yourself comfortable packaging your identity in different combinations until you feel like you belong, and can wear your labels proudly. But there's a part of you that never really found a home rattling around in categories that couldn't do you justice. You look around at other people, trying to judge how loosely they fit in their own lives sensing a knot of confusion hidden beneath a name tag. And you realize we're still only strangers, who already know what the other is going to say, as if the only thing left to talk about is who belongs in what category and which labels are offensive. You have to wonder if these boxes are falling apart. If we should be writing our identities by hand, speaking only for ourselves, in our own words. taking our chances out in the open and meet each other as we are, asking: "What is it like being you?" - and be brave enough to admit that we don't already know the answer. Maybe it'll mean that we've finally arrived, just "unpacking the boxes" making ourselves at home. And maybe we'll look back and wonder how we managed to live in the same house for so long, and never stop to introduce ourselves. 【A transcript from his video, "Lutalica".】
Problems of self-identity. Dont let people tell you who you are or how to live. You are your own you, no matter how different you are. Once you feel comfy with who you are, things might become clearer along the way.

This is so good. I’ve been patiently waiting for someone to push 3D animation in anime to the limit like this. You did it, with fashion, a beautiful art style, story, and sound.

Agreed. Im in love with the depiction of Harajuku fashion and I really like the 3D animation
Haruka wanted to dance and be happy. Her mom she was like a princess. She was considering a bright red dress but her dance instructor said the darker outfit looked better on her. Slowly she did things that would be more "like her". I'm glad she found out that what's like her is what she likes and not what others say even if it is a positive comment like "You're a princess".
So glad I found this series! The concept art, sound effect, music, story, everything is executed wonderfully and the 3D models actually enhance the concept. I've liked and subscribed and look forward to the next episodes. Good job to the team who have worked hard creating this series!

This looks super interesting! As someone who wears Harajuku fashion myself, I love how it captures the same kind of funky and expressive aesthetic. The artsyle and character design on the 3D models is also very unique; I'm usually not a big fan of 3D anime, but this genuinely looks awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this ♡
I relate to this character so much Growing up in a strict home I wasn't allowed to explore and experience the world in my own way, or decide who I wanted to be. It was Always what other people wanted or expected of me, and if I stepped out of line I was shoved back into it and the things I was told to get back in line are what made my insecurities, anxiety and even my paranoia. I wasn't allowed to be me. Today I have so much more freedom but I honestly don't know what to do with it or know who I really am. Honestly, it's probably the most exciting thing.

Just my thoughts but maybe the character had people say "this is so you" so much that the character never truly learned to be themselves. Like maybe this character feels neither strictly feminine nor tomboy-ish? A bit of everything, maybe. Just a thought. Very well done, I really enjoyed this ☺️❤️
Why is this underrated? Plus, this looks like a top-tier anime 💜

Ever since I’ve seen 宝石の国 (Houseki No Kuni/Land Of The Lustrous), I’ve been astonished with what people could pull off when combining CG with the Anime style. It’s just so cool to see how amazing anime can look when it’s done right with 3D graphics. After that, I’ve always been on the hunt for more CG anime, and found BEASTARS, and now this one. This series is ABSOLUTE EYE CANDY, my goodness, I can tell all of the hard work and effort that went into it! Just seeing all of these wonderful CG Anime’s inspires me and makes me confident that the anime that I hope to make in the future will look good if I try to do it with 3D Graphics. Keep up the amazing work, Artiswitch team!!!

this is very relatable... when femininity is forced, it can feel very pressuring and some people reject it altogether. But that, too, can feel pressuring, to be expected to completely reject everything feminine even though you may like some aspects of it. It's truly freeing not to be confined by others expectations, but to pick what you want, regardless of what gender society defines it as.

I was shocked how relatable this was when i watched it the first time years ago. I didn't know there were others who shared the same feelings. This hit right in me and made me realise my feelings. You should not be afraid to express your likes and true feeelings! It is definitely difficult to vastly change but know that this is what you are and have always wanted. Don't care about what others might think or say. I still am not able to wear things i want and what not but i have definitely become courageous and comfortable to say what things i like. Just because things have always been like that doesn't mean you are too and have to go with the flow even though you want to change. All people change, dont be afraid and embrace yourself.
