Won't happen. Would love to see it on DVD, Blu-Ray or streaming, but it won't happen. One major factor is rights issues with music, especially in the early years when they used a lot of copyrighted music. In that sense "SCTV" could be considered street art.

I used to watch this on cable, on WOR ch. 9 from New York, in the late 70's as a teenager. Bennie Hill was on the air at that time too. Man, TV was great back then!
@wmbrown63 жыл бұрын
WOR's airing of "SCTV" in its first two years in U.S. syndication was most ironic - as Channel 9 was every bit as uber-cheap and no-budget in its operation (as were RKO General's other TV properties) as the fictitious "SCTV."

Based on that initial segment alone, I've long wondered if the name "Johnny La Rue" was a riff on exercise guru (and early TV personality) Jack La Lanne - this in spite of the La Rue character being entirely opposite in terms of lifestyle. But that Mr. Candy subsequently died of heart disease, I can see the sad irony in this.

That's how it started out in the first few episodes, before his name was shortened to what we all know today. Incidentally, would anyone in the Pittsburgh area of a certain age have any clue as to whom he modelled Floyd Robertson as SCTV News anchor (and presumably news director and managing/executive editor) after? I thought I saw some hints of Pittsburgh TV news legend Bill Burns in him . . . and (O')Flaherty grew up in Pittsburgh . . .

Any plans to upload the Network 90 episodes as they were, not the syndication cuts?
