The new ones like every compact suv aren’t like this anymore. These had a higher suspension and 4x4 wheel drive.
@grabtheskillet Жыл бұрын
the 2013 one has "intelligent 4wd" that kicks in automatically when you need it but the car doesnt have that much offroad capabilities

@Theophila Muhoza Your daughter does. The escape is what I drive her around in
@grabtheskillet Жыл бұрын
@Theophila Muhoza lmfao the new ones are mostly turbo 4 cylinders that make almost 250 hp
@critical_awareness7587 Жыл бұрын
@theophilamuhoza8841these older models are on truck chasis 😂😂😂 you cant compare the older ones to these new models... totally different suspension, drive train and clearance. These have truck clearance. I take mine on serious 4x4 roads that make inexperienced drivers in lifted vehicles, tremble. Cars cant do what this thing does. But you would know if you owned or drove one.

I wish I would have recorded half of the things I did to mine. These can take a serious beating

I am here to agree. Major 4x4 roads in my stock 2002 fwd. I LOVE this vehicle. And i only have 2 all terrain tires, and THEY ARE on the back! The escape is really incredible for what it is and what is capable of.

It quite surprised that these old crossovers can keep up with jeeps and land cruisers

Unless you had the manual transmission early escape version with the manual switch on/off 4x4 offered only a few years, no point in any serious off-road activity, the automatic didn’t have any slow speed gear range ratios going for it , at least the standard offered more down hill crawl in first where as the automatic meant using the breaks always. The automatic version maybe uphill benefits and high ground clearance, the escape was never really developed for serious off-road activity the gearing just wasn't there. The high ground clearance is what the escape had going for it and good interior space.

I am looking into purchasing one as an all rounder work horse, l read is a reliable vehicle and has that no BS dash with lots of room for tools. The other option would be an older Cr-v or Rav 4... but the looks of the Mav attracts me more. Is it a good choice?

@@dildofaggins731 - I have a 2005 with 205k miles and a 2006 with 191k miles, not perfect but still run well, minor repairs that I do myself. Some serious rust issue though due to MN winters.
@asiandrag0n2 жыл бұрын
@@dildofaggins731 depends on who u bought it from n what services they did on it. My 06 escape hybrid has almost 202k miles n at this point the only issues are tiny liquid leaks. Honestly if u take good care of any car, it’ll run forever.
@starmember132 Жыл бұрын
@@asiandrag0n Same here with a 2001 mazda tribute. Leaks have been solved. No problems right now. Only issue is ac compressor needs replacement. Still running good and strong at 170,000 km
@asiandrag0n Жыл бұрын
@@starmember132 the location history of each car is also a important factor. Mine has been in WA state since new, so there’s literally no rust at all. All in all, if u do ur homework, you’ll find a great used escape that’ll last u forever.
@starmember132 Жыл бұрын
@@asiandrag0n Mine too. Specially the zone where I live it’s humid, and there’s no salt at all. No rust problems in mine. For being a 20+ yo car, it’s in great shape. I’m considering selling it because I don’t use it anymore.

Steve dose your Escape have a lift kite on it?
@p3outdoors7 жыл бұрын
Yes. It has a Boondox 3" lift and 245/75r16 tires. It has been lifted for over 100,000 miles. Has served me well.

The Gen 1 & 2 were good little SUVs. My favorite one was my '01 4 cylinder stick with 4wd. Good MPG, fun and good off road. Took me on many adventures
@asiandrag0n2 жыл бұрын
@@p3outdoors I agree. My hybrid tho forces me to drive slow sometimes cause i like to drive on the electric motors like im in a tesla lmao. Mine also has 4wd which is great. Are they going up in value tho? Cause i got a carfax for mine saying it has a retail value of a bit over 5k.
@p3outdoors2 жыл бұрын
Not sure. Maybe the hybrids are. Here in Michigan the older ones are slowly rusting away.
@asiandrag0n2 жыл бұрын
@@p3outdoors I'm in WA state, I hope mine isn't lol. In this day n age, im tryna make mine run for a while. Just spent $800+ on transmission n engine(gasket/oil leak inc.) service. At 202k miles, its not in the best condition known to man, but its goin strong n still no engine light.
