What a down to earth guy. The way he puts the ideas into words. We lost a remarkable human being. Thanks for sharing this.

One of the reasons I got into Rush was because of their lyrics. While everybody else in my high school was doing all kinds of crazy things, I would go home feeling alone and writing poetry. But not, like, angsty teenage bad romance poetry. Like, thoughtful stuff. And although my thoughts weren't completely worked out on my own yet, I had other lyrics and poetry to read and to interpret and understand. I'm 24 years old now, and things have definitely changed. I haven't much improved my standings in life, but I don't blame others. I know that my quiet and observational personality has definitely been the cause of that, which I don't know if it's a bad thing or not. Maybe it is, but we can only do so much to change our personality. Thanks for these interviews!

This is a fantastic interview, philosophically rich and one which shows a sense of vulnerability I would not have expected from a master like Neil. What a true human being.

Man, to hear Neil speak about somebody losing their life by a random car accident at 9:00 just freaked me out....thats how his daughter died.

Thanks, great interview with a wonderful human being. Ironic about the random car accident comment and fate in light of what happened to his daughter and then his wife with Cancer.

Subscribed and notification bell ticked. Thank you for releasing these. I too grew up starved of Rush information (Especially in the UK) There was interviews, as articles, in the NME , Kerrang Etc. But we saw and heard very little of interviews on shows and radio during the decades of fandom. So to have this which (In addition to the memories) Gives new insight to the songs and is a welcome invigoration of a passion and love for a band that for millions of fans (You don't get the record platinum awards year after year with a few hundred thousand) Is giving even more from a band that just keeps giving , even now, each time you revisit their work. A Big thank from this Rush Fan.

" Early man trying to figure out why a dinosaur ate his wife " 10:15 ??? Peart was a great lyricist and drummer but my God he was ignorant about some subjects like religion, basic natural earth history, etc. all the dinosaurs died out 65 million years before man or any precursor of man even appeared on earth. He must have been watching Flintstones that day I guess, man and dinosaurs were not contemporaries. And as far as "early man looking up at stars and thinking they determined his life" Ironically it is the secular materialistic world view that entails that, if all that exists is deterministic matter in motion then the movement of the cosmos alone ( Not astrology but astrophysics determining inevitable brain particles on their way to inevitable movements and inevitable irresistible thoughts and irresistible world views including material brains determined to be a determinist) , the movement of cosmos determining the brains every behavior and thought, though at least Neil held to libertarian freewill (see song freewill ) inconsistently and fully contradictorily, but a non-material mind/soul would have allowed a person to rise above their deterministic brain hardwiring and freely reason to a conclusion and free behavior rather than merely reacting to an deterministic/inevitable one. But other than that , R.I.P. Neil.
@TheTapesArchive4 жыл бұрын
Don't you think that Neil really knows that dinosaurs and humans did not exist at that time?
@musheopeaus41253 жыл бұрын
He was being facile . He knows they didn't exist together just as the sky doesn't exist
